Atlas of Human Anatomy: with Student Consult Access (Netter Basic Science)

Savior of A&P. No doubt about it. I recently undertook a 10-credit A&P intensive in 8 weeks, and without a single doubt, this book was my main resource for all of the anatomy practicals. Our textbook was inadequate - it would have partial and very select views of anything, and didn't cover half of what we had to learn. Among the Atlases that we had on hand, I first found the 5th edition of this book and even though it wasn't photographic, I really appreciated that it was so detailed and offered so many variations on the same area. You can go from skeleton to muscle, nerves, or check out diagnostic imaging views like X-Rays or other scans. I didn't feel that, given the detailed variety here, I was missing anything by not having photos. I checked this newest edition out from my library and was elated to see that just about all the gaps from Dr. Netter's work have been filled by digital rendering that strikes a balance between the accuracy I expect from computers but also the aesthetic I expect from the overall Atlas. I'm sure they're trying hard to find a new way to make an edition given that this is so complete - but I welcome the result. I bought this book after the class were over (I did well) to be a TA for the class throughout the year. With the easy organization of the book, I was able to flag all the areas I knew students would have questions about and was able to absolutely enrich their studying by offering new ways to look at and locate features. This book is currently being sold at a great price. Wouldn't miss it if you're in the market. Only improvement I'd suggest for future editions would be to have the option of a spiral binding with water resistant/alcohol-fast paper so that it could live in the cadaver room. The book still lays flat enough without much manipulation, but being pressed flat puts undue stress on the current binding.

I am a billing and coding student/CPC candidate and in the course of my study I noticed that other textbooks used Dr. Netter's illustrations. I decided to purchase the complete volume and I am pleased with my choice. My age aside, there is a lot to be said for having high quality reference books on your desk versus using the internet. I have the paperback version which is a trace larger than a 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper; and it is nearly 1.25 inches thick. The pages lay open nicely and the paper is sturdy with a finish between satin and semi-gloss depending on your perspective. The book includes many radiographs, transverse/cross section illustrations, layered dissection illustrations, organ dissections (some microscopic) etc. A few subjects are presented in schematic form in addition to the traditional scale form (primarily nerves). As near as I can tell, it is complete in all respects. There are NO photographs except for the x-ray/radiograph images. For anyone not familiar with Dr. Netter's work, all the illustrations are hand drawn, so the scale may not always be precise for tiny details. This book is much better than videos or photographs of cadaver dissections. As is the case with many medical books, the genital details are explicit, so plan accordingly for storage/kids/easily offended adults etc.

Netter's is the go to atlas for anatomy. I am currently using this for my first year of med school and it has all of the graphics I need. These images are also often used by professors on exams. I have a pdf version of the previous edition of the atlas and compared to that, this edition is definitely worth the upgrade. The reason being the tables that I do not see in the older edition. In this edition there is a table at the end of each section of the muscles, their action, blood supply, innervation and muscle group. This is an amazing resource for a condensed version of the information you will need on exams. Friends who have the older version spent hours writing out tables of their own, flipping through endless material looking for that information. I highly recommend this as the first line atlas that you get. You can find supplemental information on the web, or add another atlas to the collection if you feel you need one. This will be the best one to start with though.

As a medical student going through the rigors of anatomy, Netter's is an ESSENTIAL guidebook. No text to muddle the pages, just beautifully illustrated guides of every portion of the body, each viewed from multiple angles. You'll have your list of structures to memorize and then when you go back to this book as a resident or just for fun, you'll find even more tremendous detail that is there even though it may not be labeled but was included as a show of the level of professionalism Dr. Netter exhibited. Netter truly has the masterful touch of a skilled doctor and artist, and said skills are exemplified through each painstakingly detailed illustration, of which there are more than you will ever likely need, though its certainly very nice to have. Do not use this as anything more than a visual guide through the body, though a tour-de-force guide it shall prove to be. Not only is this book a necessity for a medical student's career, its simply a nice addition to one's library that will be treasured for years to come.Such can't be said about most books med students are required to read.

I'm an amateur anatomist, so this is not a professional view. I find Netter's Atlas to be a wonderful resource. This is truly an atlas. There is virtually no text. Just hundreds of anatomical drawings and medical images. The labeling of drawings is often very dense, as it must be. The labels can be hard to follow, but well worth the effort. The cross sections, or transverse sections, of body parts are particularly useful to me...as are schematic representations of elements of the nervous and circulatory systems. When she learned of my "home-schooled" interest in anatomy, my massage therapist recommended Netter to me. She was right...it's a wonderful companion to an Anatomy and Physiology text.

best anatomy book I've ever seen.

Just recently used Netters Atlas 5e for my block of anatomy during first year of medical school. Lots of medical schools require this book for medical with good reason: it's comprehensive, it's detailed, it's easy to understand, and there's NO TEXT, only labelling; so it's an awesome resource--second only to the cadaver. Anatomical relationships also wonderfully depicted. I had the option to order Netters in an undergraduate anatomy class but, specifically for me, I'm glad I didn't. There's a lot of information and unless you have a class to point out relationships (like anastomoses) you might not quite appreciate the amount of effort and knowledge that went into some of the pictures/plates. There is perhaps minor discussion on a few details between my school and what's portrayed in Netters but, like said, it's minor. If you're in undergraduate and really thirsting after something more detailed and complex, then it would be a good purchase (it's relatively cheap on Amazon); however, even if you aren't quite driven to learn outside of class it will be useful for medical school and a career in medicine later on!

La verdad es que tiene unas excelentes imágenes, aunque quizá podría ser más completo, pero en general puede tener buen uso de cara a estudiantes que nunca han estudiado Anatomía antes.

Studiando in inglese, questa versione mi ha aiutato a studiare. Il libro è ben fatto e dettagliato. Inoltre l'ho comprato per 25/30€ prezzo molto buono rispetto alla sua media di 100€.

Habe das bestellte Buch sehr pünktlich erhalten, der Inhalt erfüllt auch meine Erwartungen, deshalb würde ich es auch ohne Probleme gern weiter empfehlen.
