Another Viewpoint About Back Pain
Great book telling an alternative tale. What I got out of this book, and what it's meant for my chronic back pain. Being on the tall side of things, I blamed my back pain on more leverage on my back and such things. I've always done for myself, not afraid to do any kind of physical task. Back pain was always somewhat present my whole life, and at the bad times it would spasm and lay me up for days. Learning how to stretch out the hard to stretch muscles and not being fearful of back mobility, but at the same time lifting things correctly (bent legs, straighter back load close to body, using leg power) has seemed to solve my problem for over 3 years now. This book was an eye opener for me, mainly because of the strong evidence from other countries medical records that imply that using the back in daily toil seems to manifest in no back pain complaints, even with the same scary wear and tear problems of the spine evident, that we in the West live in fear of.I recommend reading it for yourself and making your own conclusions. Also, I cannot emphasize enough, how sitting all day and such, is hard on the back as it shortens and tightens gluteus, hip, and hamstring muscles. This causes more stress on the spine when using the back, because the hips and legs limit mobility and the spine has to make up for that, when bending over, for example. In any case, I've found that as the book implies, exercising the back eliminates pain, and baby-ing it (a.k.a. being stressed about getting back pain, therefore avoiding using it) results in chronic pain and risk of injury.

I don't want to give this book a bad rating, because the content is excellent
I don't want to give this book a bad rating, because the content is excellent, but the print is very small, and the print quality is very bad, making it very hard to read. I'm going to buy the kindle version because I can't read the print version

The Hail Mary Paperback of Back Pain
I have not read a page of this book. This is a review from the point of view of a spouse of someone with back pain. For months, my wife's neck was causing her so much pain she became unable to do almost anything. She couldn't lift our son, she could barely drive her car, she couldn't sleep, etc. As the husband, seeing her go down that hopeless spiral made me pretty scared. She went as far as to get X-rays and MRIs to see if anything was causing it. She went to physical therapy and returned feeling worse. It was a miserable time for us.Then, one night I saw this book in our shopping cart. I rolled my eyes to myself, but knowing how much pain she was in, I played along. She read it. She started feeling better within 2-3 days. Weeks later and it was as if she never had back pain at all. I tell her all the time, "I LOVE BACK SENSE!" I don't even want to know what's in it for fear of somehow messing with the mojo. I think this book is worth a shot for anyone.

This Book Was Life Changing
I suffered from chronic back pain for over two years, had been to numerous specialists and spent thousands on aids, machines, cushions, physical therapy, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and anything else I could think to address my pain. It wasn't until a specialist told me to read this book that I experienced any relief. After reading the book, I changed the way I thought about my pain and stopped allowing it to dictate the course of my life. Within days, I noticed relief and after no more than two weeks, I was nearly pain free. I've since given this book to several other friends with back pain and their experience has been similar. I cannot recommend this book enough.

Not all problems are psychological and the argument they are ...
Not all problems are psychological and the argument they are presenting is a psychological issue equals a back issue. And if you truly have a back issues that are psychological this book makes sense. They're presenting an almost dogmatic argument with very little regard to actual physical conditions which can create major back issues. I was not enlightened or impressed by this book at all.

Eye strain from the TINY print
An excellent book from some of the world leaders in this field. A practical and impactful programme that will have profound positive effects on your pain cycle, be it back, shoulder, or some other reason. However, it loses two stars due to the tiny print that forces you to get reading glasses (which I don't usually need), a magnifying glass (not a good look on the train) or just squint and replace your back pain with eye strain! BUT THE HARDBACK hopefully it's bigger print!

Radically Improved My Life
I had horrible back pain for 4 months. Then I read this book. It almost instantly disappeared. My chronic pain went from level 6 out of 10 to level 0 most of the time. Crazy. Thank you thank you thank you thank you.The book is somewhat repetitive at parts because they really want to hammer home important truths. But redundancy is forgivable cause they freakin' cured me. Enough said. I am not exagerating.
