Excellent quality, lots of fun!
Perfect for my 6 year old son!I originally looked at Hornby Junior for a kids train set but what they had to offer looked really poor as the trains could only be controlled by buttons on the train itself, the range is extremely limited and they were not suitable for setting up on a carpet.This Marklin set has the tracks raised up on "ballast" so is kept well clear of the carpet and the remote control with speed control, lights and sounds makes the whole thing much more fun than the Hornby Junior set could ever hope to be. Plus there are quite a few add-ons available to set up a proper train set.Plus the icing on the cake.... The train actually produces little puff's of steam! Simply amazing!The trains feels very sturdy, with easy magnetic couplings although it can be tricky to get the train all lined up correctly on the track. With a little practice my 6year old could do it by himself plus the "re-railer" cunningly hidden in the grassy section corrects any wagons which get out of line.To any parents out there looking for a kids first train set don't look any further, this is excellent and well worth the money!

Best Xmas Present.
Without a doubt the best present my son got this year. He loves train sets and has loads of the trackmaster thomas stuff, I was looking for the next step up for him although hornby do the starter sets, a simple oval track seems boring.Went with this one because of the steam function and although it doesnt exactly billow out, its quite a cool little feature.Hes played with this for hours non-stop now and is already talking about which set he would like next.

Brilliant for age 3-6
I bought this from a train exhibition for my 5yr old.The train fits on the track perfect it doesn't de rail even when going very fast.Their is a compartment on the train were you can put water so steam comes out of it.Its just great I would highly recommend this they also sell other train and accessories so you Can expand.
