Great illustrations of all types of race cars. Indy, F1, stock, sports, drag. Really pleased with it. Nice descriptions with each Letter. No complaints at all.

My son is only 10 months old and I was a little reluctant to get this book at first because I thought it would be too much of a "let's learn the alphabet" book.However, it is nothing of the sort. While not a rhyming book its clever mix of consonance, assonance, onomatopoeia and surely other literary devices that elude me, make it seem almost poetic.Leaving the high-brow behind, this book has numerous strengths -- it has an above average size which makes for big, dramatic illustrations; it has a fantastic read-aloud quality due to its profoundly thoughtful word choice; it has a lot of subtle things going on with the evolution of the racecar, etc; finally, it is just plain fun. If it didn't have alphabet in the title you might not even notice the whole alphabet thing going on -- it definitely doesn't try to be an educational book or to force feed kids learning.I couldn't recommend it more highly for children no matter how young.

Great alliterations for each letter. Illustrations are wonderful. A great book for any young car enthusiast!

We are big race fans in our household, and this book has been getting a workout. As another reviewer observed, the text is somewhat awkward, but any race fan is in for a real treat with the pictures. We have had a wonderful time identifying the famous tracks, venues, racing movies, and events depicted in the book, right down to Schumacher's broken leg ("Yelp!") This is a read-it-again-Mommy book - lots of fun and a good buy for car nut parents and kids.

This book made me and my child a Floca fan; it is a must for any child (and parent) who is a fan of auto racing! The illustrations are awesome, and the story around each page (and letter) can be elaborated on in any number of ways. Speaking of numbers, I have also used the book (in addition to teaching letters/alphabet) for number recognition as they progress, sometimes as car identifiers and other times in less obvious places, through the book as well. Great for 3-6 year olds!

Very nice book for kids who are interested in race cars. Diversity of language is a plus, and as you proceed through the alphabet the cars progress through time which is a cool addition.

If you are expecting the "A is for..." Kind of thing, think again. This is one of the best illustrated and best written ABC books out there. Large scale book with exciting points of view keeps kids engaged. A lot of nice history for the adult as well. This is probably one of the author's best books and it will entertain the little ones as well as the ones a bit older (up to 5 at least).
