The Ultimate Quotable Einstein
C**R
For all Einstein fans
This a comprehensive collection of quotations by Einstein, along with some quotations about him, filling almost 600 pages (I read all of them). The quotations have been carefully selected and authenticated, which makes this collection perhaps the most authoritative available source for Einstein quotations. The topics of course cover physics, but they also range into philosophy, and extend further into religion, politics, and much else. I think this range of topics shows the dual nature of Einstein, a man who valued solitary investigation into the nature of the universe, but was also willing and able to passionately engage in the social world.I've read a few biographies about Einstein, but hearing him speak in his own words offers a different and valuable perspective which is essential if you really want to get to know what kind of person he was. I think you'll find confirmation that he was indeed a uniquely profound genius whose towering reputation is entirely warranted, while also being subject to the imperfections and limitations which are inherent in being human.

Excellent resource
I wanted to use the Einstein quote used on his memorial in Washington D.C. but I couldn't source it anywhere, including it accompanying pamphlet which also used the quote. This book came through.

Wish I had not read it!
These are "real" quotes and they "really" lowered my opinion of Einstein's opinions."Never meet you heroes"

An excellent, well written
An excellent, well written, collection. If you're an Einstein fan, as I am, this is the book for you. "Quotable Einstein" is arranged by topic and may be read through or used as a handy reference tool. I use it both ways.

Total waste of money
This is a waste of money - the author even admits that many so-called quotes are just others' impressions of what Einstein may have said or thought or meant. The only valid quotes are taken from Einstein's own writings, which even then are selective snippets, many clearly intended to create impressions different from Einstein's actual lived experiences. Example: Contemporaneous news reports recorded that Einstein was a good friend of Upton Sinclair, attended a seance with him, and wrote introductory remarks for Sinclair's book on mentalism - none of which is in this book. And where is Einstein's famous "spooky action at a distance"? Save your money.

Excellent. It gives a lateral insight into Einstein
Excellent. It gives a lateral insight into Einstein, the whole person, his thoughts and progressions of thought. His understanding of the intuitive and imaginative faculties of man, being the reason that his absolute rationalism makes sense, and has purpose is enlightening for us all in our time. This ability to see beyond the tangible is threaded throughout the chapters. It's a good read from cover to cover.
