Mickey & Me (Baseball Card Adventures)

This book brings you into it. Interesting and partly true store. Dorothy (Mickey Mcguire) Chapman was an awesome professional woman baseball player. She was also a wonderful lady. I had the opportunity to meet her in her later years. This story is a must read if you like softball or baseball.

I bought this book for my 7 year old Little Leaguer....He loves to read and he loves Baseball.The Baseball Card books are the kind that fill him with awe and wonder and enable him todream and to work hard at doing his best at sports. He knows others have risen to heightsin Baseball that others merely dream of so he will practice hard to achieve a degree of excellencefor his age level.He is 7 years old but is reading at the 4th to 5th grade level and enjoys the challenges of readingmore advanced books for his age.

No doubt when you think of baseball and "Mickey" you think of "The Mick" Mantle. He was a heckuva player. I remember that gofer ball in his last at bat. It was a tribute, and well deserved. But hey, that's not the Mickey who this book is about. That would be Mickey McGuire, a star of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. She played for the Milwaukee Chicks in 1944, which is when Stosh pays a visit. You may know the league from the movie "A League of Their Own" but even that can't cover the action as well as a good book. And this is a good book. Go for it!

Thought I was buying a book about Mickey Mantle. Good book but my son was bummed we were mislead about who this was about...

My fifth grade boys LOVE this series. I can't keep them on the shelf and they are creating waiting lists for each one. Highly recommend for reluctant readers who like sports.

These Dan Gutman sports books are perfect for middle school age kids. My 11 year old used to hate reading, but since he started these books he went through 3 and 1/2 books in the last month. I'm so happy to find an author that reaches out to middle school boys- a hard group to get to love reading.

I have always done a lot of reading and enjoy TRUE STORIES especially. So far I have found that most of the True Crime writers are a group of their own and all of them are very good at what they do. The books at Amazon are very good books and most of them are quick reads.

Time-traveling kid has his consciousness raised by going back in time to meet a women's baseball team. A consistently good series for baseball fans of all ages.

Very good book only bad thing is mickey mantle is not mentioned much why not all the other books are about good major leaguers but Dan Gutman puts time and effort into his books
