An Excellent Manual For Improving Your Amazon Sales
As an Advantage Member on Amazon I was very eager to read this book in hopes of improving my own sales on Amazon and perhaps finding a way to sell other items on the site as well. I wasn't expecting to pick up a bandoleer of magic bullets that would transform my own marketing through Amazon, but I was pleased with what I did glean from this guide for better marketing. I'm easy to please in some ways because I was not expecting major revelations and in addition to specific techniques that I could immediately put to work, I was aiming to pick up a lot of additional background information about Amazon. Everyone reading this book will quickly understand that Amazon is growing at a geometric rate and expanding into most fields of product sales. Much of the book dealt with businesses and web stores that are intended to be much larger than anything the reviewer is interesting in setting up. I was only interested in selling books and some art on Amazon. My goals are modest but I was pleased to find several nuggets that seemed intended just for me. Surprisingly, I found several helpful gems near the end of the book. One of the biggest surprises of the book was the advice by many of the top sellers on Amazon to use other venues to sell their products as well as Amazon. There were several lists of other venues for various products. There was also a plug for starting and learning the ropes to Internet sales through buying and selling on E-Bay. There was even a list of reasons to stay focused on E-Bay and whether it was the right time to add Amazon to the reader's selling venues. There were many specific recommendations for high quality, inexpensive suppliers for helping web setters. One example was ULINE for most shipping and packing materials. I mention this particular example because I already knew what a great supplier that company is. It's not only one of the least expensive suppliers of shipping supplies, but it's also fast. I've never waited more than two days after placing an on-line order before the supplies arrived by UPS. They are one of those companies that epitomize good supply chain management and delivery. As a person who is really only barely able to use the Internet and the various Social Sites, blogs, You Tube, etc., I'm always trying to expand my knowledge of what is a whole new universe for a Stone Age Man like myself. This book is written in an easy-to-understand manner with lots of helpful illustrations (most of which seemed to be reproduced too small in my opinion--the books only flaw as far as I am concerned). I solved that problem with a magnifying glass and continued to glean lots of the very helpful advice included in the tome. The book is a motivational as well as a self-help book with lots of individual success stories included throughout it. By the time I'd finished the 306-page instruction manual, I'd dogged-eared half the pages and marked up almost every page with either my black or red ballpoint pen. This wasn't a book that I was planning to keep in perfect condition. It was the kind of reference book that the reader wants to dog-ear, highlight and mark up wherever the reader felt there was material that he or she wanted to refer to in the future. It's a workman's book. It's the best book of this kind I've read since I learned so much from "Aiming At Amazon" by Aaron Shepard, which is also an excellent volume about writing books designed primarily for sale on Amazon.

Not a big fan
The content available in this book seems dated. Most of the info can be found for free on Amazon's site. It does compile the content in one location, but if you are looking for insight I think this book falls short.

Pretty Helpful
I am new to selling on Amazon and wanted to get it right so I purchased the book. Was pretty helpful. Could have used some more specifics and how tos. Several of the suggestions when I searched on Amazon help could not find how to do it but overall it was worth the price.

Not that impressed...
This was a very general treatment by authors that do a good job interviewing experts but aren't experts themselves. I hoped for more insights and specific ideas. I already learned almost everything in the book (80%) in my first 60 days selling on Amazon. I'll be looking for better titles to provide useful info to grow my business.

It is perfect for the novice and lets those that have all ...
I read some reviews before purchase. The negative postings seem to be from those who think they know everything about Amazon. This book does what it is promised to do. It educates those who want to know what is involved in selling on Amazon. It uses comparisons to EBAY and other sites and stress's proven tactics to aid in future success's. It is perfect for the novice and lets those that have all the answers be critics. I feel I got what I paid for and then some. In the intro the authors offer to engage and give specific answers to readers. I did have a question or two and did attempt to ask them but have not heard back from them yet. If I do not hear from them I am still very satisfied with this Book!

Selling on Amazon
This book has a lot of information regarding selling on Amazon. It helped me start selling on Amazon the correct way with detailed how to's, to get things done the best way to generate the most exposure for my products.

Up to chapter 4 and so far there weren't any "secrets".Hopefully I'll get to the meat and potatoes soon!As a side note, the reading is very clear and easy to understand.I love the brief case studies or success stories.

Not enough depth
I bought this hoping it would tell me how to do a killer listing on Amazon, how to find out more about the elements available in their XSDs and what the process is for getting products through Amazon's search rankings.Instead, a lot of common sense stuff without much practical depth.

Good if you,re just starting out selling on amazon, if you're an experienced merchant however 5/10% of the book may help you.
