We actually cut the pad at the withers under our western saddles and the withers are well protected and free of rubs. It stays in place, cleans up well and is very durable in our challenging riding conditions. Review: Nice Product - At first when i got it, I thought it was a bit too firm and rigid. It wouldn't bend into the shape of my horses's back, but after using it a few times it became more flexible and easy to work with. Its a great product and very soft and easy on the horse's back. Since I've been using it for my beach ride 'n' swim, and trail rides, my horses haven't had any rubs or saddle sores since. I would gladly recommend this product.
