A concise version of Peter Addymans marvellous Gazetteer showing development of York
I loved it Was aware of this being started when I was a student in York in 70sand it became virtually a lifetimes work for Peter I used to chat about it with my tutors at St John’s and fellow students and put in an order pre publication for the full volume V York edition( 5 because others had researched other historic English cities). The concise map is an ideal gift for anyone studying at York and will hopefully inspire further interest in the original work.

Shame that to date no other historic towns/cities are covered in the same way - excellent, both for map addicts and historians

A new 2018 update of the excellent 2012 version of "A historical map of York in 1850".
This new 2018 version is a rework and reissue of the 2012 version, now by the Historic Towns Trust in its Town and City Historical Maps series. It is presented in a new binding, with a folding card cover - the same format as an OS map - with all new illustrations. An excellent map of York in the 1850's. The earlier version of 2012 came as a folded map with cover and contained in a slip case. This 2018 version has NO slip case, and is now the same size and presentation as a standard OS map. The thick card map cover has a history of York on its reverse. On the reverse of the detailed full colour 1850 map is a comprehensive gazetteer of York's buildings and sites of interest. Fascinating detail to study for hours !
