Good toy at a GREAT price!
My son and I had a lot of fun with this little guy!It's basically an alien-mold of a water-absorbing polymer with some electronics built in that blinks an LED at different colors depending on conductivity of the solution it's floating in. So you add some powder to water (which I'm assuming makes the water more conductive) then add the dried-up, shriveled alien embryo.The head is plastic (does not grow in water) and has a blinking LED that simulates the beating heart of the alien. On the head also are tiny electrodes that, in essence, "test" the salinity/conductivity of the water. If it is "good", the LED blinks red, meaning that the little alien embryo is happy and healthy and will one day grow up to enslave humanity! If you need to add water it will blink orange and if there is too much water, it will blink yellow (I might be getting my colors switched--we've only seen it blink red.)Over the course of several days, the little guy grows to fit his head and fill his little tube. He stops growing, but the light keeps blinking according to the water conditions. We've had our guy blinking for over 3 months now! His dreams of conquering the Earth dashed, it seems he is doomed to live out the remainder of his days in a little plastic tube on my son's dresser.

Alien Really Grows
I gave the Test Tube Alien five stars because it really grows. This would be a great gift for your child and plus your child could use the scientific method. My twelve year old loved this and wants all of the Test Tube Aliens! :)

Very entertaining
I did this with my 7 year old daughter after her homework and she loved it. She still has it though u really cant take it out. Entertaining.

This product is amazing, my daughter loved it! I strongly recommend it for children. The only thing I didn't like was that once the alien (battery) dies, the light never turns back on.

waste of money
we bought this for our son, its fun for the children at the beginning but after that you cannot take it out and play with it or anything. It just sits in the tube is all. Would not recommend to purchase as kids prefer to play with something rather then watch it grow for a few weeks and then it starts to mold in the tube. Also you cannot go online to learn about the alien as the website is no longer up, maybe they went out of business?
