These were very delicious. I was not expecting the amount of spicyness to be that high. But, to be fair I find pretty much everything to be rather spicy. I do think that this food did provide an excellent value for the price. As an added bonus for me it was both vegetarian and kosher so I am very pleased with this (If it wasn't kosher I wouldn't be able to eat it). While it is rice, it is not just rice which was what everyone was expecting and I was glad that it wasn't "just rice". I would definitely buy this again and recommend others try at least once! Definitely a change of pace from regular rice. I'd call it "Rice with a kick to it."

If a Picture is worth a Thousand words, see the pic .. am still struggling to understand what is common between the two pics. And mind you, the ITC hotels have some of the best Indian Restaurants in the World - these products are just a pathetic rip-off trying to maximize the profit from the ITC Brand.In the 2nd pic, I searched everywhere for any veggie resembling the carton - I found a tiny shred of carrot which I have placed in the middle. A truly sad representation of the generosity of Indian culinary culture ..While my review above is for the Hyderabadi Biryani (which no way on Earth is it a Biryani nor is it Hyderabadi) and which deserves 0 stars - the Kashmiri Biryani is significantly better - and deserves 3 or 4 stars. Wish I could have reviewed the Kashmiri one separately which I cannot. So giving a blended avg. rating of 2 stars.

I just tried this rice. It’s tastes good and has a good flavor, but it’s really spicy hot! And nowhere on the packaging or this website does it say that it’s spicy hot. If I had known that, I wouldn’t have bought it. I don’t want hot foods like this for my dinners. I’m feeding senior citizens and they can’t eat this. And really… neither can I. Somebody needs to modify this listing so that people know this is a hot type of food. It says spices are used, but it doesn’t say HOT spices are used. I can’t recommend this. I gave it 3 stars for the flavor and it comes well packaged.

This rice has get seasonings . . . a bit spicy, but with the rest of my dinner, is super!! I will definitely order more!!

I was very much exited when I found this on Amazon. Away from my hometown Hyderabad one thing I missed the most is Genuine Hyderabadi biryani. I thought this would make up for it. But, when cut opened the pouch to heat the biryani I found a strange smell coming out of it. I heated the biryani in microwave for 2 minutes and tasted it. And let me tell you it was the worst hyderabad biryani I have ever tasted. I was so pissed off that I threw in in a trash can. The taste and smell of the biryani were so bad that you cant even eat 2 spoons. So, guys if you are looking for genuine hyderabad biryani stay away from this. Actually I would have given it a zero star if it had been there.

Very good product. The rice comes in a soft package and is packed air tight, so you will need to break up the rice as it is one big "clump". To get this rice to come out well, you first need to break it up a bit, heat it in the microwave for a bit, break it up some more, and then heat it up more. After it is warmed up it will 1) break up easier 2) Have a more moist consistency, as when it comes out of the package it seems sort of dry. But once it is heated up, the liquid elements become "un-gelled" and soften up the rice a bit. I taste tested mine before it was done warming and it tasted a little dry... this dissipate after more warming.I have tried a few other shelf stable spiced rice meals and they were very vinegar-y. This was neither vinegar-y nor greasy. It was just right with just the right amount of spices. Could be a little hotter in taste, but that is easily remedied with some red chile powder.Overall, four stars, as it was good but could be better. Next time I am adding chile :)

This biryani, although easy to order and heat, does not taste good or authentic. I had troubles finishing the package I opened and could eat only half of it. I would not buy this product again.I am originally from India, and cook myself an Indian meal 4-5 times a week. Maybe my expectations are too much from a packaged food :(

I love Indian food and there is not a restaurant with 2 hrs drive of here. This product makes a good meal and quickly. I love the balance of spices. I also like to add vegetables to the packet.
