How is this possible
The car looks excellent. Packaging top notch. Take out the car, put in brand new batteries and it barely moves faster than a turtle in a wheelchair. Well that was yesterday. Today, we plan on taking the car to an R/C friendly location (big office with smooth floors) and thought lets just test the car to see if its driving any better. No response by the car. Double checked batteries and of course the On/Off switch for both transmitter and car. Then I read the 1 star reviews (never thought to check before) and see that other people have the car just stop working. This was a gift for my son doing well during the end of school during the covid stay at home time and the gift was part of our Fourth of July celebration. Of course this is going back!

The RASTAR Lamborghini arrived very well packed with two small screws retaining the remote control in one end of the box, and some easy to remove clips at the bottom of the box that latched the car itself securely in the box. This care in packaging ensured the car arrived in flawless condition. The remote takes to AA batteries and the car takes five AA batteries. Measuring at over a foot long this radio control car has a real presence. The level of detail is good, and it looks great as a display piece when sitting on the shelf. It does have functional scissor doors like the real thing, although I find they are a little tight to use so I only opened them a couple of times. They may free up with time, but once they have been opened a couple of times I think the novelty wears off – after all it is the driving we want to do the most! On the topic of driving it is pretty quick. Many cars designed for outdoor use are actually much faster, but when using a car indoors you want to ensure the speed is reasonable, and this one is. The remote has four buttons, two for left/right steering, and two for forward/reverse. Range of the remote was great, and we never had the car go out of range using it in a 26’ x 14’ room. It is important to note that there are two main types of controls for radio control cars. The more advanced controls are proportional, much like a real car; you turn the wheel a little and the car turns a little, you turn it further and it takes a sharper corner. Similarly the throttle on a proportional control is like the gas pedal on a car, you can push it down a little, or for more speed you can floor it. This car is *not* proportional control. This does mean that to navigate a corner when you press the steering button it turns full left or full right. If you are doing a tight turn it is easy, press the steering button, press the throttle button – and away you go. Reality is some corners are more gradual, so in those cases you press and release multiple times in a bend to modulate how much turn you have. Same holds true for throttle – zero to full speed in no time! It takes a while to master this car, so my driving videos were pretty much all me running in to the couch or the walls. That isn’t actually a negative, the more you practice the better your driving, it isn’t so easy that you get bored, so it should provide hours of fun. For this reason you will see the video I posted simply shows me going through the actions with the car suspended in place. I should also note that after a long run time I still have not managed to run down the five AA batteries in the car, or the two AA batteries in the remote; battery life is good. When the car is travelling forward the headlights illuminate; when running backwards the tail lights illuminate. I found the lights were a bit too bright as they didn’t just light the small lights themselves, but actually made the body around the lights glow – although that did look cool when driving in a dark room. Overall verdict? Looks great, detail is very good and it will display well on the shelf. It is fun to drive, but can be a challenge due to its non proportional controls. Overall it’s a decent product, and I would recommend it if you are looking for a large scale attractive RC car that is in a more modest price band than the ‘high end’ cars that can cost several hundred. Good beginners car – I recommend this product.
