A little tinny but still excellent for the money
My seven year old son started taking guitar lessons from his Uncle Chris four weeks ago and I wanted to get an inexpensive but well built guitar that would withstand the beating a seven year old could dish out. Sound was secondary to the quality of the build in this case and I was very happy. The whole guitar feels solid and well made. The sound is tinny but that's to be expected for something so small. For my son it's a perfect size. He's a big 7 year old but still, his hands are small compared to a ten year old. I thought about getting a 3/4 size so he'd grow into it but when comparing the cost of the lessons and other things in life the extra hundred I spent on the guitar is nothing so I'd rather he gets something that fits him now. I am very happy with the purchase. It seems like the perfect guitar for our situation.

Good value. Solid kids guitar
The guitar was shipped 3 boxes deep with plenty of packaging. It arrived in perfect condition. One thing I didn't read about it, was that this brand is under the ownership of Washburn which is a nice plus. I wasn't sure of the quality of the guitar, but I honestly think that for the size and price, it is pretty great. I didn't buy it for myself, but for my young son. I wanted to get a small guitar but couldn't bring myself to spend $30 on a toy guitar that wouldn't have any use as he grows up. I understand this one is going to end up getting mauled as he grows, but as long as he doesn't break the neck off I'm fine with it. For the price, this is a decent guitar. I see some reviews have been written by people who wanted to use this as a travel guitar, I personally don't think I could do it as the sound is definitely very tinny. If you are a seriously player and want a smaller guitar, the taylor "mini" series are pretty amazing...but obviously run a much steeper price. That being said, this is a fantastic young kid's guitar.

Excellent guitar for children or as a spare on the go
Bought this for our 2 year old daughter who frequently comes into my office and is fixated with my guitar rack and strums the guitars constantly. Like most I started my search looking for a toy guitar but was shocked at how awful the reviews were across the board. It seems like 90% of what is on the market breaks within a few days, is unplayable, doesn't stay in tune, or is non-functional..I found this guitar which had relatively high marks across the board and for a few dollars more I have a fully functional guitar that is not only beautiful, fun sized for my daughter and stays in tune without issue. In fact the sound is actually quite good and was somewhat dismayed that it equaled or rivaled the sound of some of my acoustics in the 500-1000 dollar range. My daughter loves to play and I appreciate having an extra around the house to pick up from time to time.

High quality product! Positively worth the money!
Well made, easy to tune and sounds excellent. Truly a quality product! As a side note, was not impressed with the tie on for the strap so I used a small suction cup placed at the top of the body of the guitar (as recommended by another reviewer) and it works great. Less chance my grandson will hurt himself putting the strap around his neck. Can't beat the price on Amazon. $30 less than local stores.

It's small
I just got the guitar and it seems sturdy, definitely going to be a great guitar to learn with. Problem is I was so excited to buy one, and it was such a good price for a left handed guitar, that I didn't notice it is a 1/2. That means it is small, like for a child small. So, just a heads up to anyone who is as impetuous as I was. It's small, go for the 3/4 size if you are not a child or are a large one? lol.

Child's Acoustic Guitar
We are very pleased with the 1/2 size Schmidt guitar we purchased for our 4 1/2 yr old Grandson for Christmas. His father, an accomplished guitarist chose this model so he can begin teaching him the basics. The quality and sound seem to be excellent and I'm sure our Grandson will be thrilled to be playing "like Daddy"! Good value for the money!

Tiny and Tinny Guitar
Just arrived today. Fast, free, and perfect condition from Amazon. Although tiny, will work for a little while (not long) for my 8 year old son. He likes the color, look, and general feel. Easy to tune and hold. BUT, the sound is really lousy! I know it's small so it won't have a full sound, but man it is really annoying. Note: I'm not a guitar officiano, but I don't know if I can stomach the tinny sound much longer. I'm gonna try some new strings to see if that helps the 1/2 size guitar sound a little better. If so, I may upgrade my rating.

Beautiful
Sounds great, my 6 year old sons guitar tutor suggested 1/2 or 3/4 size, pleased I went with 1/2 as still slightly too big but aesthetically I fell in love with this guitar, the pictures do not do it justice. A REAL guitar for my little man.
