It fits a 1989 8hp B&S Engine
I was hesitant to get this based on some bad reviews on it. I got a 1989 B&S 8hp engine that had an old and bent fuel cap. It was black, this is chrome-looking, but has the same shape as this one. Also, the schematic said the engine took the same part number as this. When I got it, I was a little worried because it looked like the thread was more of a notch that did not have a spiral, it was thin in comparison to the original. However, when I put it on and started to screw it, it tightened up, and I do not seem to have the fuel seepage out the top anymore. Thus, it works, but not as good as the original probably has for 30 years. The packaging does say "Made in China" now, so it is understandable the threads don't dig as deep as the original American one.

Ordered the wrong part but it still seems well made.
Giving this 5 stars because it was a very good cap. Unfortunately we ordered the wrong one so we didnt actually get to use it. We kept it in case we ever needed it but packaging was solid, and the product seems well made.

Its NOT a 1.5” cap
I goofed and ordered this thinking it was the size I needed. Think it’s a 1.7” or 2” threaded cap.

Made in China
It was the right size, but like somebody said previously, no threads to screw the cap on! I guess its my mistake to assume there would be threads. If you look at the picture closely, you can see it. I took the gasket and vent out of it an retrofitted the old one. What a piece of crap!!!!!
