AstroCam HD (New Version) Wireless Wi-Fi Video Monitoring Camera with Night Vision and Cloud Recording

I am new to the whole security system game. While searching Amazon for a good security camera I come across this one. I was a bit skeptical considering there was a few bad reviews. So I'm going to give you my opinion on this camera. First of all the camera is very well priced. It arrived in a very timely manner and the shipping packaging was appropriate for the device.When I open the package I took inventory of everything that was included. Included in the Box was the camera, a long (approx 20' long)power cord, a user manual and mounting hardware. Everything I needed to get the camera up and going was in the box. Now about the product the product is very stylish and looks great with my Decor at home. The long cord that is included with the device is white, so it matches my wall and is barely noticeable. The power supply does not run through the mounting bracket, so if you're installing it on your ceiling and run the power cord through the attic, you will see a small 3-inch section of the cord. However for me this is not an issue as I just ran the cord down a hidden corner of my wall to the closest outlet.The mounting hardware that was included with the kit seems sufficient enough to securely hold the camera to the ceiling. 10 minutes with a Phillips head screwdriver and I had it mounted and plugged in.Syncing my phone with the camera was all so easy. I had to download there suggested app called isecurity+. I have a Galaxy S5 and I downloaded the app through Google Play. There are also several other apps that will work with this camera, so if you have issues with that app you are able to use other apps. With the included instructions that came with the camera I was able to successfully sync my phone with the camera. Be sure to turn off the Wi-Fi setup switch to the "off" position once you are done or else you will not be able to view your camera on a separate Network once your away from home.When you purchase this camera it will come with a free 30-day trial of their motion detection recordings. What this means, is that it will automatically record whenever it senses motion. It does not save it to the cloud it saves it to your phones memory card. So if you don't have internet access, it will not record the activity that the camera is detecting. However, it is a very good feature that definitely comes in handy.One more thing, if your only getting a black and white picture during the day, be sure to turn the night vision from "auto" to "off" in the settings menu. Or adjust the sensitivity levels accordingly.Also, you are able to send and receive audio to and from the device... So if your dog is alone and your at work, it's pretty funny to talk to him and watch him look around to find out where the voices are coming from.I rate this camera 5 stars because it works for my application perfectly.

This is a review based on the camera's operation and functionality within the app. This is the 2nd camera of the exact model that I have purchased. I'm using the latest iOS on an iPhone 6s Plus with the updated firmware for iSecuriy+ app to view the live feed of my apartment.There are three options for the night mode on the app iSecurity+, On, Off or Auto. With the updated firmware downloaded, the "Auto" mode does not automatically adjust to the setting's lighting condition.When "Auto" is selected and I go into the app and view the live feed there are 2 problems. The first problem is in afternoon sunlight with a bright apartment and the shades opened and lights turned on, the IR lights remain on. The second problem is that the live feed is in B&W because the IR lights remain on even in a brightly lit apartment.The IR lights should deactivate and the viewing feed should switch to color when the apartment is brightly lit, but this does not happen after downloading the latest firmware.After multiple emails back and forth from the company, and no update or solution to the error within the app iSecurity+ or solution with the camera's hardware, this product no longer works as described with the night mode feature "Auto" failing to recognize an obviously very well light apartment setting and adjusting automatically to the condition. If the company provided a timely solution, this would be a 5 star review for both the product and iSecurity+ app.Photos attached show the night mode on "auto", the actual live feed view in B&W, the IR lights remaining "on" when they should be "off" and the view of the same apartment setting taken from the same angle on my iPhone 6s Plus.

I found this camera while looking at the much more expense NetGear and Drop Cam cameras. I purchased 3 of them. 2 were replacements and 1 was an additional unit for our play room. I liked several features of the camera. You can remotely access the camera to view and communicate with those being monitored. Setup was ok. It worked ok, but I had to go through the process a few times to get it to work correctly.While viewing live, I didn't like that the video controls stayed on the screen so you lost a portion of the viewing area.Picture and video quality are ok, but I have noticed that motion in the front of the camera tends to blur on playback.Even on the default (3) sensitivity it took a lot of short video clips and sent a lot of email notifications, and there is no ability to program the camera to record while your away.I'm going to keep these cameras for their ease of use and mobility, but I'll have to find something else for my home security needs.

I love this camera! We have enjoyed using it to watch our dog during the day while she is home and we are at work and school. It was super easy to set up and works great. I wish it picked up color a little better ... The feed is in color as long as the room is really bright, otherwise it is black and white, which isn't a deal breaker. I love that it has two-way audio. I can speak through it and hear what's going on surrounding the camera. One thing I had to figure out is that after you set it up with wi-fi through your app make sure you turn the wi-fi back off. It works with the wi-fi button in the "off" position. It makes more sense that wi-fi would be on, so that was the only tricky part in figuring out how to get it working. I would definitely buy this again and may buy a second one. The only thing you have to plug in is the power cord, which is pretty long.
