Two-Disc Special Edition is great with both colorized and B&W versions and lots of extra documentaries, commentary, and features
This review is for the excellent "Miracle on 34th Street" Two-Disc-Special-Edition, which includes the following:--Disc 1: Full Frame Feature: Black and White Version--Disc 2: Full Frame Feature: Colorized Version--Commentary by Maureen O'Hara--The 1955 The 20th Century Fox Hour of Stars TV remake--"AMC Backstory: Miracle on 34th Street" featurette--"Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade: Floating in History" featurette--Movietone News: Hollywood Spotlight--Promotional shortThe colorized version is very well done and adds sharpness and pleasure to the images. It is highly recommended! The B&W version is always there for those who prefer it.This movie's screenplay and direction was by George Seaton who also did Teacher's Pet, Airport (the 1970 original from the novel), and many other classics. George Seaton had a gift for economy and clarity in scriptwriting and directing... there isn't one unneeded word or shot in the entire movie. When you watch other George Seaton movies, you can see the same scriptwriting and directing techniques and they are a pleasure to behold.Heads up if you purchase the Two-Disc Special Edition: It appears that someone sometimes splits the "Disc One" and "Disc Two" slim-cases apart that come together in the box, selling them separately. If you receive only a single disc, but it is marked "Disc One" or "Disc Two," contact the seller (as we had to do).All in all, we highly recommend this movie and the colorized version and extra features in the Two Disc Special Edition. It is definitely the best value and contains the most material about this wonderful movie.

Not a Colorized Version - Black & White only
Don’t let the cover fool you. This is only a black & white version. The packaging shows a colorized photo. The original is black and white movie which is great but I was hoping for both options. It advertises multiple formats, but colorized is not one of the perks. Just a heads up. I didn’t read the fine print & was fooled by the photo.

BLURAY IS BLACK & WHITE - NO COLOR - MISLEADING
The title of the product says "Miracle On 34th St bw". I discovered after receiving the item that the movie is the black and white version only! That is what the little letters "bw" are after the title. Why misleading? First...spell it out...black and white, not "bw". Second...ALL the photos on the box are in color. Only in TINY LITTLE PRINT you can barely read does it say black and white version only included.BOTH color and black/white should be included for this price! For these reasons I give this version of the product ONE STAR ONLY! BEWARE! WARNING! BLACK AND WHITE ONLY!!! NO COLOR!!!!!!And the complaints I've heard others make about the video quality of the Blu-ray is accurate. The images are VERY dark and does not have the "wow factor" quality of your typical Blu-ray.

Still charming and a wonderful part of Christmas (any time of the year)
My wife and I each grew up watching Miracle on 34th Street in our respective families, primary at Christmas. So we both love the film and when Amazon had a good deal on buying it streaming, we grabbed it. Being summer and longing for something a little sweeter, we recently sat down to watch... and were reminded of a gentler time (our childhoods) and the memories of Christmas we both hold. Here you’ll follow the story of a young girl raised to not believe in Santa, and a man who endears himself to her, her mother, and the handsome man across the hall. When our mother hires him to play Santa all sorts of things play out, such as a holiday commercialism battle between store giants, an egotist with delusions of psychological grander, and a court case to prove, is this the REAL Santa? Politics makes an appearance. And through it all, a gentle, kind man reminds us the true meaning of Christmas, while making us believe... Santa is REAL!Step back into 1947 and a time when people needed to believe - perhaps as much as we need to believe now. And come away charmed. There are many classic black and white films that stand up and Miracle on 34th Street is most certainly one of them. Here’s to hoping it remains (or becomes) a part of your holiday traditions. Wishing you a real, Miracle on 34th Street!

You can’t believe the written description!
I was very careful to find the version that said it was the “special edition” with a description that said it included two discs, with disc one containing the colorized version, and disc two the original black and white. What came was a single disk version labeled “disc one” and not even any room for a second disc. Very disappointed!

Maybe the best Christmas movie of all time
This ranks as one of my all-time favorite Christmas movies. I watch it every year. Last time, I started noticing some slight blurring as I've gotten used to blu ray movies. So I had to upgrade. The transfer is excellent. Like other older movies, the switch to blu ray will appear slightly grainier than a dvd because it is sharper. I've watched both and the blu ray is much better.I like the B&W version and that is what comes on this disc. If you want colorized, look elsewhere.

BEWARE !! - BLACK & WHITE ONLY VERSION !!
I ordered this after reading some encouraging customer feedback right here on this very page advertising the Blu-Ray version. I was particulary interested in seeing the colourised version as well as the B&W one. So far so good! The problem here is that older (non related to this actual product) reviews are also on this page. Why? Sure it's the same movie but certainly isn't the same item. This can be confusing and misleading especially if you don't have hours to spend reading through each review trying to figure out if it's related to the one you want to buy. It's not rocket science. Keep them seperate!!Potential buyers want to know what it is they are buying and specific to the product being advertised/pictured. If it's a movie we want to know the running time - if it is in colour or b&w (or both) - mono or stereo. etc This matters!Product advertising on Amazon should be better than this. Bottom line. Stop confusing people!Despite this fairly minor annoyance I have no problem with the the movie at all. Great !! - 5 Stars *****

Cover in colour but blu-ray does not include colourised version!
This is a little note to anyone who looks at the cover of this bluray and thinks, as I did, that it includes the colourised version of the film.I can confirm that it does not.The rating I have given is for this bluray product as a whole not just a rating of the film itself and I feel it is quite misleading to have a colourised image on the cover without including the colourised version of the film on the bluray disc.I wouldn't expect every film that has a colourised cover to include a colourised version but the 2006 DVD includes both the black white version as well as the colourised version so upon seeing the cover of this blurry I assumed that it would simply be a bluray equivalent of the DVD. I was wrong.Being an ardent fan of the film, I initially thought it could be an appealing prospect to be able to collect both versions of the film in the bluray format.I feel it would be less misleading if they made the cover black & white. Doing so would also make it more straightforward for people who are looking only for the black & white version.

Best Ever Christmas Movie
This is without doubt the best ever Christmas movie and to now have a colourised version is wonderful. It has both realism (wanting to put the old man who thinks he is Santa in an institution) and magic (maybe the old man is Santa after all). The film never actually says he is Santa, and is all the better for it. The arguments in the court scenes are exactly what you would expect to hear if someone making those claims were to end up in court, and the battles between the competing department stores in New York are amusing. The performances are great (with Edmund Gwenn rightfully winning an Oscar) and the script spot on, delivering a warm Christmas family movie without dripping it in oil. And just for the record, this p*sses all over the 1994 Richard Attenborough remake.

Miracle on 34th st. blu ray
Very misleading as it is in b/w not like the cover picture in colour. It is 4.3 screen so does not fit the television screen. Not happy with this order..Hence 1 star!
