Easy to assemble
It came earlier than expected. Just the right size for my grandson who is 8 years old now. It only took 15 minutes to put together. It's heavy duty and well made. Good quality and looks good to. Great color with pad on handle bars.

Sturdy and safe bike
A sturdy bike for a beginner at a reasonable price. It can take a lot of abuse unlike higher end more expensive bikes. Easy to put together with basic tools. I like the fact that it has old style foot pedal activated coaster brakes rather than hand caliper brakes. Avoids needing to constantly replace the brake pads, and it's safer than having front caliper brakes which if applied hard alone can lurch the bike forward and send the rider over the handlebars. Caliper brakes also avoid the need for an inexperienced rider to take his/her hands off of the handlebars to activate the brake levers.

Terrible out of the box, Great with some TLC
I took a chance on this bike for my 4-year-old after reading some widely mixed reviews, but it was so cheap that I gave it a go (mine did not have the front wheel issue that others have described.) Make no mistake: right out of the box this thing is terrible. If you have zero mechanical comfort then take a hard pass. However, the bones are not bad, it is just like when they were assembling it they gave some people who have never ridden a bike some wrenches and said "tighten everything up as much as you can." That's a great idea when building a deck, not so much when assembling a bike. +1 to all those who described super-tight wheel bearings. Mine were so tight they almost didn't spin and if I put them on as-is they would be worn out in a month. The fork was also so tight the thing creaked and grinded whenever it moved. Chain was also so taught I thought the thing was going to pop if my boy actually started riding. So...why four stars? I am very comfortable with bike mechanics so I took the whole thing apart, regreased all bearings (factory grease looked like it came off a Thanksgiving turkey) and reassembled properly. Now that big yellow banana can rip like hot fire and my boy has a big old goofy grin on his face. It's really not a bad bike. Takeaway: you are looking at a $60 kids bike and not a $200 kids bike for a very logical reason...your kid is going to grow up. But the difference between any $60 bike and $200 bike is going to be huge, and this thing is proof positive for that. It's not hard to make any bike run well (things should be tight enough that they don't fall off, not so tight that other things can't move...) but for the safety of your kids, if you don't know how to do that then definitely fork out the extra cash to pay a reputable company like Trek to do it for you. If you're cool with that, then by all means save the cash but kill some time making this baby purr, because it definitely can.

Great bike!!!
I am 67 year-old woman who put this bike together in less than half an hour and that includes reading instructions. Excellent bike easy to put together, and I am so excited to see my grandson’s face when he gets this for his birthday!

GREAT deal for the price
GREAT deal for the price! Sure it's a little heavier than other high end 16" bikes, but do you really need to worry about weight for a learner?? Spending $150 for a 16" branded bike seems nuts to me. Fully expect our son will transition to a 20" within a year, so this was a great compromise to get him riding without spending serious cash on something he will outgrow quickly. Did have to adjust to get it riding smoothly but it only took 20 minutes; if you're not mechanically inclined, it might take longer. Went together without any issues. Can't comment on trainer wheels (though they look decent) as our boy started on a stride bike, which I highly recommend. Our son got on this bike (his first pedal bike) and immediately started riding without training wheels.

Very very bad really and it would have left us without a ...
July 2015 update : it just gets worse. Now one of the training wheels have completely shredded. I'm guessing my kids have less than two hours riding time on this bike. Now I can't get the company to respond to my emails. As with many reviewers when I came to build the bike a few days before Christmas the forks would not allow the wheel to fit. I was lucky, I have access to a working factory with skilled fabricators. I dropped the bike in and the guys went to work with wood blocks and hammers. They got the wheel to fit but the bike did suffer a few paint scrapes getting it done. The fact that I managed to get it to work doesn't excuse the factory not even QC inspecting this. Very very bad really and it would have left us without a bike for Christmas for our 3.5 year old. I just can't forgive them for this error and the fact that it's happened to so many others, 2 stars I'm afraid. As a side note the bike is a little big for him but he's not going to get much use until the summer anyway so I'm hoping he grows a bit more before then and can use it.

Llegó muy bien el paquete, la bici está sólida con muchos detalles, el frenado es presionando los pedales hacia atrás, no los trae en el manubrio. Buena calidad, volvería a comprar.
