My Wife Thought I Was Nuts..
For over a decade my wife and I have put on the sound of ocean waves on our beloved Squeezebox radio devices as white noise to fall asleep to. We had a pug that would snore pretty loud, so needed something to drown that out -- and besides that, when it's dead silent and the house is creaking or there's some other noise to fixate on, it can sometimes be hard to fall asleep. So the Squeezebox device worked well, except several times a year or more there were either power glitches or network glitches that caused the white noise to be interrupted -- which would inevitably wake us up and have one of us walking over half-asleep to reset the radio, sometimes cursing at it because it wouldn't just reset. I eventually decided that it'd be nice to have something that just did white noise and didn't require any network connection -- or would restart itself if the power went off. I now have 4x LectroFan white noise machines. Two of this model and two of their more basic model. They all work well. I have one in the guest room for when guests are over, we were using one by our puppy's crate for a number of months, there's this model in our bedroom for falling asleep to ocean waves and then a sister to that one that is only for traveling. My wife thought I was nuts for buying the first one. Probably because of the fact you can play white noise on your phone, we had the Squeezeboxes playing ocean waves, etc. But then after we used it for a while, she started to love it -- and also love the simplicity of them. You just hit a button. It remembers the volume and whatever tone you had previously set. If the power goes out, it comes right back on with the same tone and volume. And it just works! No fussing with loading an app, with a phone heating up or battery dying during the night, or network issues to interrupt the streaming of the white noise. So all-in-all, very happy to have purchased this and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. There is no looping. It can get pretty loud. And it just works! With these having an advertised power rating, I felt really comfortable buying it. I think it's under 3w or something like that -- and that's how it should be. Yes there are cheaper options, but do they have a noticeable loop in the sound? Do they consume very little power? Are they good build quality? Are they going to heat up or burn up or worse? I'd rather pay a bit more knowing I'm getting a quality product these days, especially if it's plugged in 24/7. This is a buy-it-once type of device that should last for years and years judging by other people's experience, so well worth the cost for something you'll use almost every single day IMO. Definitely recommended!

This has saved me from sleep deprivation!
I have cat-induced insomnia. My cat meows besides the bedroom door until I wake up in the middle of the night. She gets enough food before bed and again in the morning, she’s been checked by the vet, she has plenty of toys, but still, she meows for attention. She isn’t allowed to sleep inside the room for other reasons (plus she would still meow at me even if she was inside). I’m not a person who can fall back asleep easily once completely awake. I start becoming anxious and thinking about things, and next thing you know, hours have gone by! It was getting to the point where I slept less than 5 hours a night most of the time. I thought I would go insane. I tried a lot of things before this sound machine. I wore high-quality, silicone earplugs. I left the fan on. I tried to put foam on the bottom of the door to block sound. Nothing was enough to muffle my cat’s meows enough for me to sleep through them! I didn’t have high hopes for this, even though I read through a lot of the good reviews before buying it. I always thought sound machines would only be as effective as a fan. When I tried this out, I first tried the fan setting because I liked how that one sounded. Then I tried the white noise setting and that one actually worked a lot better to muffle the cat noises. I think she’s even stopped meowing most nights now because I don’t respond to it anymore. The machine gets loud and I turn it up high. I still sleep with earplugs in, or else the sound would be too loud. The combination of the machine and earplugs are enough for me to sleep through disruptive noises, even as a light sleeper! If you’re worried about your alarm, if you keep it right next to your bed you should be fine. I tested alarms on my phone to see if I could still hear them loud enough, and I could! It might be an issue if you keep your alarm further away though. I haven’t experimented much with this machine because the setting I have it on with the white noise already works so well. You can adjust the volume to your liking. The sound travels up and helps to fill the whole space you’re in, rather than just occupying a single corner. The machine is also super small which I wasn’t expecting, and that’s great because it’s light, portable and not clunky. I worried where I was going to put it until it arrived and I saw how small it is!! Overall, if you suffer from noise-induced insomnia, or if you just need some comforting background noise to help you fall asleep, you need to try this little machine! If your cat is extra loud at night, then you especially need to give this a try. I’m so glad I found this!

A real lifesaver
This thing really saved my life, it works so well. I especially appreciate how the buttons are designed to be operated in a half-awake state, reaching over from bed. Has a great variety of sounds, from basic nose to a bunch of specific industrial fans, I settled on one of those with a nice rhythmic bassy sound, really helps me doze off.

It works well, but having to count my ways through the different sounds is annoying
I bought this for 2 separate noise reasons. I've moved in with my elderly relatives into a very small house with hard wood floors. One stays up until 12 or so watching tv and has a walker that makes a lot of noise on the floors. The other one is a night owl and goes to bed around 3 getting up again at 6. This is a working farm, so there are coyotes howling and dogs barking at deer and coyotes 4-6 am. I needed something to even out the sounds to get any sleep at all without disturbing my relatives schedules. I did find if I made it loud enough to completely drown out the dogs, I got a headache. It was right behind my head. I haven't tried it in another part of the room yet, BUT it will go loud enough I can't hear the dogs. That's on the plus side for this machine if it can drown out 4 barking watch dogs. That is probably more sound than most people would need. The continuous noise, even at slightly lower level, softens the noises and evens them out so I'm not woken up as often. I prefer the various white, pink, brown etc. noise sound to the fan sound, but you have the convenience of personal choice for that. The fan sounds more electronic to me, rather than an a regular house fan. I would have preferred that less edgy sound. It got 4 stars, not for its performance, but because you can't tell where you are when choosing the sounds unless you keep the list and start over each time, counting your way through the various sounds. Some indicator would be helpful, although the machine would probably have to be larger for that. The small size is convenient and it would be easy to pack for travel. Its about the size of a big double hamburger. It's easy to use and it works well, except for the inconvenience of choosing a particular sound. Overall, I'm pleased with how it has performed.

A necessity in an apartment!
I purchased this LectroFan sound machine for my baby’s bedroom. We live on the bottom floor of a 3 story apartment building. My upstairs neighbors are young elementary aged kids; and sometimes the kids can be quite loud. And I don’t blame them - kids are kids. But it is pretty hard when I need to put the baby down for bed and they’re playing in their rooms. Y’know, kids will be kids. Lots of running, jumping, sometimes falling down or dropping things, it’s enough noise to startle my baby from a deep sleep. This powerful little machine solves all my problems. At the loudest setting on the fan/whirring white noise we like, it sounds like a jet engine is in your bedroom. This little thing drowns out EVERYTHING. We keep it roughly at the midway point, not deafeningly loud so I can still hear midnight crying when it happens, but loud enough to drown out anything upstairs. I love that there are so many options for noise - there’s some options that sound more like static, some that sound like fans, one of my favorites sounds like a window a/c unit. The options vary from “lighter” noise to more heavy bass which is my choice for drowning out footsteps/playing. The options are straightforward. Volume up and volume down buttons. Fan button for the fan noises, the static symbol for static noise. Power button to turn it on and off. Timer button if that’s an option you want to use, but we don’t. Also love it, because no stupid lights! The baby likes the room to be pitch black dark, as do I, so nothing to mess with her circadian rhythm. I 100% recommend this machine. It comes with more options than most, it’s easy to use and set up, and most of all it’s a continuous noise. No obvious loop or skipping - just a steady, consistent noise that you get to choose.

LOOK NO FURTHER - THIS ONE IS PERFECT IN EVERY WAY
I love this! I've used a white noise only sound machine for 30+ years. As I am getting older the pitch of the white noise seemed a little high for me. This was recommended to me for its brown noise sounds. It is absolute perfection! The noise is perfect and the noise level is adjustable so it makes it even better. I was afraid it would sound tinny or like static but it is a nice, deep rumble which is what I want and need. It has so many other options to choose from should my needs change. The buttons are easy to use. The size is perfect.

Buy this one
I tried all the popular sound machines and this one is the best. Plenty of sounds to pick from. No weird buzzing or ringing. Truly no loop! Just consistent sound! It gets loud enough to block out all the noise of my house when I go to sleep first. The only thing that would make it better is an optional nightlight but not a deal breaker.

Solid noise machine
Portable and has the exact white noise I need. I like that it doesn't have WiFi or Bluetooth and is just a plug and play sound machine. No apps, no fuss, just a solid noise machine. We ended up buying 2.

Great little machine for canceling screaming noises
If you're living in the Netherlands, this is a lifesaver! I wish I would have known how good this is before, it'd have saved me from years of misery. It drowns the noise of screaming children outside in the daytime, so you can focus working and shouting drunkards in the night, so you can sleep. I do need to put the volume quite high to drown the noise of the children as they're VERY loud, but then the sounds are almost completely muted. I like the compact size and white color too. Maybe would be nice to have more nature sounds. Though the basic fan sounds seem to work the best for canceling out noises. Such great machine, might get a second one at some point.
