No smell and goes on perfectly! Canโt see brushstrokes itโs perfectly matte!
Obsessed with this. First of all no chemical smell which is great because I donโt want my family breathing chemicals ink. I painted inside and it has ZERO chemical smell or smell at all. It went on effortlessly! I used a special brush I borrowed from a friend, the Annie Sloan brush, and used it with this paint and it dried so perfectly even you couldnโt even see the strokes. It looks professionally finished and I am no professional. I barely sanded at all, in my before photo thatโs actually how little I sanded, I basically barely got any previous paint off, and went ahead and just painted over because this mama doesnโt not much time on her hands and it worked just fine!! Yay! Check out my piano photos! Buy this. I used 1/4 for TWO coated on an entire piano. Heard great things about this brand and they didnโt disappoint. Now what else am I gonna find in my house and paint? :)

Easy to use and produces a nice finish
I painted 6 kitchen chairs with this paint. What I love about these milk paints is they apply and level nicely. I have learned from past experience, that this paint has a slightly chalky feel to it when it first dries. However in time the paint seems to cure and it develops a nice smooth (satiny) finish. It may take a few months (possibly related to the temp/humidity) but it will happen and the finish will be smooth and durable. Very happy with this product. Will buy again.

Easy paint to work with, satisfying results, worth it!
We just bought a house so of course I got into the whole diy your furniture thing. After some research I saw a lot of people mentioning milk paint! Now this isnโt real milk paint for those of you wondering but it achieves the look just the same. I wouldnโt change my decision for a second. I got this beautiful dresser and mind you it needed some refinishing. After some minimal hand sanding and wiping I got straight to painting! When I say I got this done in 40 min, would you believe me? Well believe me, because I did, and itโs such a rewarding finish. So if youโre conflicted about it, just buy it!

I was slightly skeptical as I have been a fan of chalk paint in the past but this Milk Paint is great. It is very thick out of the can ...
This was my first time using General Finishes Milk Paint - although not my first time using any of their products. I was slightly skeptical as I have been a fan of chalk paint in the past but this Milk Paint is great. It is very thick out of the can which isn't necessarily a bad thing because it dries evenly and covers better than other thinner paints. The Lamp Black color is BEAUTIFUL and a totally matte black which is exactly what I was hoping for it to be. I applied it with a wooster angled brush that I had laying around and it worked perfectly. I used General Finishes Flat Out Flat top coat over top of the Milk Paint and it is beautiful. Tested it out on a bench I built for my bedroom and will be using it for all of the remainder of the bedroom furniture I am building. Will buy again

General Finish Delivers Again!
Paint went on very easy and left no brush marks. Details were fine with a brush. Sides, front, top, & back were done with a roller. Paint dries very fast with a matte finish. I added polyurethane to finish it off. Very satisfied and definitely will buy this product again.

Looks bad until it dries
I painted 2 dressers including the drawers with this paint. I had more than enough to do two coats. on everything but the drawers. I probably would have had enough to do on the drawers but I was doing fun galaxy paint colors over the black so a second coat on them wasn't necessary. The first coat was a little too streaky/thin for my tastes but after the second coat it was such a nice satin finish with no brush strokes I was very much impressed. The top reason I tried milk paint for the first time was b/c I heard it had no odor and It barely has an odor. A fan on in the room and an open window or 2 is all you really need for this. However, I will only officially recommend painting stuff outside in a well ventilated area. I have a mask for paint fumes and such from my other hobbies so the windows and fan was enough for me :)

Great for furniture!
I've used chalk paint on furniture for quite a few years now, but when it came to updating my guest room furniture, I decided to give this a try. I'm so glad I did. The furniture turned out beautifully. Very few brush strokes too. The paint was a breeze to work with. I did top coat the dressing table surface and also the bedside tables just for extra durability, and the bedroom set looks great. I'd definitely repurchase, and I've recommended it to a friend, too.

Great look. Needs a little tweaking.
I have used a variety of General finishes products including their "Milk" paint on one other occasion. My previous experience was applied with a brush. I was happy with the results, so I decided to try it again, but this time using a sprayer. I don't have a turbine, I just use a pancake compressor with a big box store spray gun. I was really happy with the product. It was really thick, and I felt like I needed to thin it to achieve a decent spray finish. This is a REALLY matt product. I had a few issues following sanding between each coat. I tried a number of types of cloths and rags, including paper towels to clean the surface for the next coat. But everything I used left behind a lot of lint/paper fibers/whatever. Very likely this is user error, but its not a problem I usually encounter. I used the General Finishes High Performance water based top-coat over the paint. It smoothed everything right out and left an amazing finish. Its been only a few weeks, so I can't speak to the long term durability, but it is holding up very well in a very high use application. Its easy to clean and doesn't seem to scratch easily.
