Did not come with the answer key so all the tests at the end of each chapter are pretty much worthless!

I am finishing the first class on motor controllers at a local technical college. This was the text book that my teacher had us use. This book is horrendous at teaching. The way it attempts to pass knowledge is extremely "choppy" at best. The explanations are short and not at all detailed. Everything you need to know about control circuits is merely glossed over with a short paragraph of one to three sentences. The "authors notes" sections interrupt the flow of learning. If you need to add something just put it into the section normally! This book reads as if it was written by a child and does not feel like a secondary education text book. More like a graphic novella. Might be fine for a middle school class. I will attempt to avoid all other Mike Holt books in the future based on my experience with this book.I guess a plus is the number of pictures but they didn't do anything for me.

Using this at a tech college. Absolutely horrible book. It's made for electrical engineers, not electricians. Completely lacking in any practical application that could help anyone understand what's written in it.

Good information
