Tennis Shoes Adventure Series: Drums of Desolations

Desolation of the continuation of the Series
!I've read all of Heimerdingers books in this series and I've waited a long time for this, the twelth, to be realeased. I was hoping this would wind up all the many story lines and leave a happy ending. Boy, was I wrong. The twelth, Drums of Desolation, just takes us farther into his characters stories and leaves us hanging once again. I enjoy the characters and story lines in the series, but I'd like to see some happy endings soon. I found the author's notes about the historical and geographical references helpful and interesting, but detracting from the flow of the story. I appreciate all the research he did to make his series authentic, but would like these notes footnoted and included at the back of the novel. Josh's story is told in such a way that you, the reader, know the misconceptions he is having about the people he loves and feels responsible for. It detracts from emotionally connecting with his struggles in the story. Stephanie and Pagog's story was only skimmed, if your a fan of their story you'll want to pick up the 13 th book when it comes out. The same for Megan and Apollo.

read the story, skip the notes
The story line fits well into his previous efforts, though I have to admit that at this point I'm ready for everything to get resolved and the story to be done. Not yet, apparently, as this book ends once again on a precipice. The one thing I don't like, and I don't know if I'm in the minority on this or not, is he spends too much time after each chapter with his "notes". He's been doing this for several books now. These are sometimes very informative, but often they seem like self-justification, as in "I included this in the story because Book of Mormon scholars have speculated a, b, or c". Next time I read it I will simply skip the notes and the story should flow much better.

A must read for Tennis Shoes fans world-wide
I have loved every one of the Tennis Shoes books by Chris Heimerdinger, but this one kept me on the edge of seat the whole time. I can't wait for volume 13 to come out. This story was fast paced and totally awesome. When Harry Hawkins is captured by the Lamanites, I thought for sure his story was coming to an end. Spoiler alert: he escapes. How, I won't say, but it made me cry for the joy of it. Chris is an amazing author and his stories are spell binding. It you enjoy a really good story and one that has been well researched for pertinent facts, this whole series is just so very good. You'll love it as much as I do.

Five Stars
Chris Heimerdinger does not disappoint! Another great addition to a classic series.Update: We are now listening to disc 4, and we are yet again captivated by Chris Heimerdinger's new volume of Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites: Drums of Desolation. It is the kind of book you never want to end and yet you can't stop listening. We purchased the audio discs and listen in the car on long drives. You know after you have been driving all day, and you pull into the driveway and no one wants to get out of the car, that you have a fantastic story. And that is saying something with 5 kids ages 2-16 years old!

I was so happy, I cried
Mr. Heimerdinger made my day, he personally autographed this item. My daughter will be sooo thrilled on Christmas morning. Not only that, he threw in a free dvd and it was autographed too. I was so happy, I cried. His shipping is fast, beat all other Amazon shipping that was placed on the same day. Best ever service and product. We love this author's stories. They are thrilling and keep your attention, only downside is waiting for the continuation of the stories. Please hurry with more fantastic stories Mr. Heimerdinger and make more movies!

A+ in every way!
Why purchase this or any other work from a second source when you can get it directly from the Author? His service and professionalism are top notch and He regularly goes above and beyond to make your shopping experience worth every cent! Well don't Chris! I grew up listening to the cassette tapes of the Tennis Shoes series and Now my Son is enjoying the journey himself. A welcome addition to our library!

It looked like notes we saw in the Work and the Glory ...
My daughter has been waiting for this book for years. She was so excited to finally have it. I haven't read it yet. I just flipped through her book. I was impressed to see notes in the book. It looked like notes we saw in the Work and the Glory series. I like that. I wish that each of the 12 books had notes like that.

Too much!
I loved the Tennisshoes Series and I enjoyed every book until now. The Vol. 11 and also Vol.12 are not that enjoyable anymore. Too much violence, too many persons, too much details about every swordfight. And no satisfying end. I read that it took 5 years for the 12th volume. That is way too long. I fear that I might not live long enough to see the storiy end. And I hate that. A book needs a decent ending. And now there is the Vol. 13 coming out and it is only part one. That is so mean. The story is in midair and nobody will probably know how it will end. The author is not very aware of his readers. He might get sick or worse and we will never know the outcome. That is not tolerable.
