From Inside (Gary Numan Special Edition)

......bought this DVD only because Gary Numan did the music score. Boring and bleak story and the music isn't that great either.

I'm a huge, huge Gary Numan fan, and the score is probably the best-fitting score to any animated movie I've seen. Very supportive and powerful.The movie itself was very engrossing, and scary as hell. It's visceral in a very calm way. Absolutely not for kids. Good luck sleeping if you watch it at night.

I thoroughly enjoyed this animated film. The Gary Numan soundtrack was a perfect companion to the dark and bleak mood set by the film. I thought the animation was stunning. This is certainly not a film for evryone though.

The brooding animation is a perfect match for the dark, character-driven narrative. Gary Numan's soundtrack is (arguably) some of his very best work. Highly recommended.

This is an animation film based on a highly rated Graphic Novel and is directed by it's author. It's about a Pregnant woman named Cee, who lives on a big train miles long, which is on a seemingly never ending journey in a post Apocalyptic landscape/world. The world she sees from the train is a Hellish, dark, nightmare full of death and destruction. We see desolate empty landscapes, seas of blood filled with corpses and debris. We see a divided class system on the train with the Engineers the privileged at the front of the train and the lower casts suffering and staving in abominable squalor. We see hideous and deformed passengers that occupy the train with Cee. We see the nightmares this despairing life creates in Cee of newborn Children being fed into the furnace of the train, a metaphor for humanity's devouring of itself. Cee begins too have Nihilistic thoughts about her and her child's life in such a world and despairs at the hopelessness.I liked this film a lot, it really captures the emotions of Cee in this bleak world. I liked the drawn animation, which was basically stills which move a little, but they really capture the atmosphere of the film. Some of the sections were digital animations, normally the train moving I wasn't that keen on that. The Music by Gary Numan also worked well for the atmosphere and tone of the film. I thought that the story was done well though and I like pessimistic, bleak, tragic, despairing, nightmarish and Nihilistic story's and imagery. So if you like these sorts of story's yourself and like animation I would recommend.

Well if you are in the mood for a laugh this film is not for you. I only watched it because I'm a numan fan. I'd heard the soundtrack first so I knew it would be a dark film. And it is just that. It's animated but mainly flat drawings with only slight movement, like the train moving or rain falling. It's grim from start to finish with numan & Fenton's haunting bleak music set against the aftermath of nuclear war. At the end it makes you appreciate looking out of your window and seeing life around you, things you take for granted. Hopefully life won't end up like that in the film. A thought provoking film it is.

Numan and Ade Fenton deliver the perfect musical soundscapes for this Dark and at times disturbing animated film based on the graphic novel by John Bergin. The music highlights the scenes perfectly creating incredible atmosphere which enhances each step of the woman's journey set in black desperate post apocalyptic landscape. From the view of being a fan of Gary Numan since 1979 it is hugely satisfying to see him given the opportunity to soundtrack a film like this which suits Gary's ability for creating the music with such wonderful depth and darkness. An excellent DVD.
