The Festival of Stones: Autumn and Winter Tales of Tiptoes Lightly

We love all of the Tiptoes books!
Our three year old LOVES the Tiptoes Lightly books. We love them too as we can read one or two or ten chapters as the day calls for and don't have to re-read the same book over and over again or constantly go looking for a new book. The themes are seasonal and beautiful and appropriate for toddlers through early grades.

Celebrate with Tiptoes
This is our second Tiptoes book and the second in the delightful series of magical tales by Reg Down about the little fairy named Tiptoes Lightly. In Festival of Stones, we follow the continuing adventures of Tiptoes and her animal, human and gnome companions through the fall and winter, including the many festivals of these seasons: Michaelmas, Halloween, Martinmas, Advent and Christmas. Although my children (4 and 6) attend a Waldorf school and it deepens their understanding of these festivals, the book is more than accessible to any preschool to early grade school child who loves stories about forest friends and celebrations. The lovely line illustrations are the perfect compliment to this chapter book. We usually read two chapters a night, often with a request for "just one more." The plot is easy to follow but varying enough to hold their attention night after night. We love this book and plan to revisit it year after year.

and we have loved it. Even though the kids had just turned ...
I bought this to use as part of our homeschool co-op with Waldorf minded friends, and we have loved it. Even though the kids had just turned three they would sit and listen to these easy to animate stories. Now we are approaching 4 years old, and they want more! When the 6-7 year old siblings sit in with us, they also love it. We loved how the stories went along with the celebrations of autumn and winter time. Very fun and filled with imagination.

Kids love these books!
Tiptoes, Pine Cone and Pepper Pot, and Jeremy Mouse are all time fave characters in our home! Kids play Tom and June Berry and I love short chapters and great stories. A great fall and early winter book for bedtime.

Magical!
We are in love with all of our Tiptoes books. We have the whole series and they are an absolute delight every time we read them. My 3,4 and 6 year old live into the stories and bring the characters with them into their play. These books belong in every library!!

I love this book!
This was our first Tiptoes Lightly book and I love it. We followed the stories over the winter holidays and they were perfect for what we were wanting to introduce to our son in regards to following traditions. Often times when we are on a walk, our son will want to play out that he is "Pepper Pot" and I am "Tiptoes Lightly"- some of the characters in the book. He will act out the stories in the book like how bee lost his buzz- I love that it is sparking imaginative play with him, something that was lacking before. Very happy with the purchase!

Precious, gentle stories!
Extremely precious gentle stories for the Waldorf home!! One of my absolute faves! These donβt have a lot of conflict so would be great for really young children or a time where you want to settle your children down, like before bedtime.

The Festival of Stones
I would recommend this book to any families with children ages 4-10. These stories foster imagination and increase vocabulary. The illustrations add to the story and my children (4 & 5) were captivated the whole way through.
