Bob Dylan, Lonesome Town , Limited Edition Coloured Vinyl

I bought this because a) i like Bob & i like TP & the Heartbreakers b) it was nicely inexpensive & c) i realllly like the song "When the Night Comes Falling From the Sky". Bob & the Heartbreakers... in theory a great combination, in practice - i think Bob says as much in Chronicles - this is not one of Bob's happier periods, & the various bootlegs i have accumulated reflect this... to my ears the early ones sound like everybody's pretty excited about the gig, but then some of them sound like it's all gone a bit autopilot. Saw them at Wembley, a late date, Bob wasn't talking to anybody, often would start off strumming a couple of chords & the Heartbreakers joining in, fairly unenthusiastically, falling into line, wondering song it was going to turn into. These however are pretty good performances, & an interesting collection of songs. If you are not a Bob completist, you might find the choice a little unsatisfying, if you're a completist you might prefer the term "intriguing". Oh - & it is a great version of "When the Night Comes Falling From the Sky" too.
