A great robotics development platform!
The media could not be loaded. I loved everything about this kit. Please realize before you buy that this is not a robot toy; this is a robotics platform for Arduino or Raspberry Pi. I would not recommend this as a starting place in robotics or programming. No one is going to hold your hand here. But if you need a tracked vehicle with all the basic sensors to experiment with, this is the kit to buy!I'm an engineer so I loved the assembly part of it. Lots of pieces and good assembly instructions. The Yahboom website has the basic documentation and software to get the robot up and running with examples on using the sensors. It really was simple to go from a default install of Raspbian to having the tank rolling across the floor. One thing I always like to check before making any recommendations is the ease of working with customer service. I had a motor with a broken wire, a servo with stripped gears, and a standoff that was threaded incorrectly. Those motor wires are flimsy so be careful handling them, that servo failure is most likely my fault, and the standoff was no big deal I just wanted to see how hard it would be to get replacements. I emailed Yahboom's support and all they asked for was a picture of the broken parts. After I sent that they mailed me the parts. It was that simple. What a great company to work with and so highly recommended by me.

Do not buy if you want headaches
I really really wanted to like this product. I was excited and got it all assembled. The plastic pieces are pretty delicate so one of the pieces broke so I couldn't complete the assembly. I requested a replacement. Got the replacement and got the tank assembled.Downloaded the image from the Yahboom site multiple times and could not get it to work with my Raspberry Pi 4.I was on the text support with Amazon and they were not able to resolve my issue and referred me directly to Yahboom. This is where things went downhill. This is a China made product and the support is in China. They had me connect through WhatsApp. I tried to get them to communicate through the Amazon portal but they refused to do that. To finally connect with them, it took at least 2 weeks before I actually got someone.I finally told them that I have a 9 hour work day and also am a full time student so time is limited for me. I got home at 7pm and was on with China tech till 10pm. The remoted into my computer and did the same thing that I did 5 times before, downloading the image from their site and burning the image to the disk. They had me try to launch their image but it would not load. They even did a file transfer from their end to my computer and that image did not work either. I finally told them I have to go to bed and just to send me an image on disk. This was 1/5/22 when they agreed to send me the disk with their image. It finally came yesterday, 1/27/2022. I was hoping that it worked but nope. Same thing. Doesn't launch and doesn't connect with the phone app. I have another disk that loads the Raspberry Pi OS and it works perfectly so it's not the Pi.All they kept asking me to do while we were on the chat to:[10:08 PM, 1/4/2022] *******: I really have to go to bed now.[10:08 PM, 1/4/2022] *******: Can you send me the tf card with the image[10:09 PM, 1/4/2022] Yahboom- DolphinZhang: Ok. Ok[10:09 PM, 1/4/2022] Yahboom- DolphinZhang: After we send TF card, could you give us 5-star[10:10 PM, 1/4/2022] Yahboom- DolphinZhang: I have closed team views[10:10 PM, 1/4/2022] Yahboom- DolphinZhang: And we will arrange TF card to you[10:11 PM, 1/4/2022] *******: thank you. Once everything works fine then I'll do that.[10:11 PM, 1/4/2022] *******: As of now, tired and not happy with my experience[10:11 PM, 1/4/2022] *******: Thanks for your helpVery disappointed with this company and product. The big issue is that they do not speak English well and it seems like it's only 1 person doing the tech support. They were not able to resolve the issue and I don't get a sense that they care about their customers but just care about selling a bunch of machines and seeing which one sticks.

Not a beginner’s kit, lots of I/O, quality parts. Great if you want to try RPi robotics
I have researched different kits for a long time and find this kit the best flexibility for the price. It has a controller board that supports many servos, four motors (this “tank” only use two), and various analog and digital inputs. The assembly instructions are technically correct but it will take a lot of care to make sure you are assembling it correctly. Particularly you need to understand the screw and nut sizing specification, double, or better yet triple check before you use them. The parts are reasonably grouped together with the portion of the machine, so try not to open everything at the same time. I find fitting the track over the wheels the hardest part of the assembly.I did not use the supplied software — there is a link to a google drive that has a lot of documentation and software. Since I know RaspberryPi and Python quite well, I am writing my own software and only use theirs as a reference, to find out the correct port and PIN numbers.Overall this is a great fun kit that will bring weeks of fun. But this is certainly not a beginner’s kit. I will update this with more videos and instructions as I started to use the “tank”.

Needs a bit of help
I ordered this a few months ago for my IT students to complete as an extra credit assignment. After reaching 75% build completion my students informed me of a few issues. The first issue was the flimsy motor wires fell of on each motor. This wasn't a big deal just applied some new solder. Second issue is that the instructions aren't very clear and are extremely difficult to read. Last, the usb cable for the camera was missing! I also own the Yahboom AI camera and just borrowed the usb cable from that unit for now. The Bluetooth adapter was had no connector pins on the main board and needed to be permanently soldiered for it to be powered. We now are having issues with the tank responding via the android app, it connects with no issues but refuses to move or control the tank. I'm worried that the main board could be defective somehow
