How long after plugging in unit are germs removed from room?

Depends upon the size of the room. This unit has to cycle ALL the air in the room through it to remove all the germs from the room. This device is rated to clean 456 cubic ft in one hour. An 8 x 8 x 8 room is 512 cubic ft of air; takes 1.12 hours to clean. An 12 x 12 x 12 ft room is 1728 cubit ft of air; takes 3.78 hours to clean.  I hope this helps. The 3rd number is the height of the ceiling, most are 8 ft tall.

is id good for a basement i have a daycare down there

I run a daycare also in my finished basement.  Depending on the size of your space, you may want their room size model.  I have their model EV9102 UV Sanitizer.  it's bigger and does more air quickly for my daycare.  I use this tiny unit for my half bath and where I keep the litter box and it's amazing!  The smell the other answer talks about does dissipate usually within 24 hours.  If not, the company should take care of it.  I've had zero issues with 3 units.

Question 3

Does then germ guardian break the mold spores down to formaldehyde? Isn't this dangerous?

My lungs have become super sensitive unfortunately, that's why I'm here researching these devices.

One reviewer mentions she felt sick after using this in a moldy room.

But others with lung issues say it's helped them, however, this item has a very high amount of fake reviews, when reviews were checked through the fakespot website verification.

Does it get rid of new paint odors?

As long as the room isn't too big it would probably at least help a little bit.  The room we use ours in is 12' by 13' to control any pet odors from a cat.  My wife and I are very sensitive to smells and it works very well for what we needed.  Based on the price we wanted to try this plug in (which is very convenient) before we spent money on any of the larger more expensive units.  Possibly worth trying.  We currently have 3 of these.  1 in each of our offices and 1 in one room of the house.
