Excellent case! Bought this for the first time for my husband. His old case cracked and was ripping holes in his pants. When he received this, I must admit, we had to youtube how to open it. lol!! It gave directions but we didn't understand it....no big deal. Once the case was on the phone, my husband, to my shock, threw his phone across the room to see how well it protected his phone. Well I must say, this case does what it says it will do. Not a scratch, dent, or any sign of abuse to the phone. Will definitely be buy more of these in the future. Yes it is bulky but he knew it from the start and has no problem with it.

Pleased.
I bought this for my iphone 5s (because I don't need the thumbprint sensor). I just received it so I cannot speak about protection yet, but there are a few pros so far.Pros: It is slightly grippy, which I would like to think will help in not having my phone slip from my hands. The screen sensitivity seems unchanged, and I also have a Tech Armor Ballistic Glass screen protector plus the included plastic screen protector that is with the case.Possible Cons: I say possible because others might find these slightly problematic (you guys are probably really snobby about too much, though). You can tell that there is a plastic screen over yours in that it dips in slightly when you are using it. This doesn't affect me because the screen sensitivity isn't affected, but it may bother others.I have never had a phone that needed a case and so have no experience installing an Otterbox case. The included picture (no words for explanation to the steps) instructions for installation made no sense to me. It was easy enough to find a video that showed what I was supposed to do.It does add some size to the phone, but it's a case meant to protect from impact so really what can you expect?Because I got the iphone 5 case I will say the home button has to be pressed very slightly harder with the case on. No big deal. I chose this case because it looked like it protected more area than the 5s version, and again, I don't care about the thumbprint sensor. You can't protect an iphone that's mostly covered with glass from everything 100% of the time. All you can do is protect it as much as possible as precautions.

Otterbox cases are great, especially since I went through a phase where my phone kept going swimming in toilets. My only complaint about otterbox cases is that the rubber material starts to shred and peel with use. I've only had this case for a little less than 2 months, and the rubber material that is over the home button has started to break down. It's more cosmetic than it is functional, but still something to be pointed out.

This case is just amazing. I've dropped my phone on the road face down (twice!), thrown it across the room, stepped on it accidentally, and done tons of other things to it that would have shattered it. After having the case for a little over a year, I've ripped the rubber part of the case in two places and the spot covering the home button looks worn, but it still functions perfectly. It is definitely worth the price.

I'm converting everyone in my family to use OtterBox cases
I always buy OtterBox Defense cases for my phones, and for any family members when they get a new phone. I bought this case for my grandparents to protect their new iPhone. I have used an OtterBox Defense case on all of my phones since I purchased my first iPhone (almost 6 years ago), and I have been extremely satisfied with the durability of the cases and the customer experience with the OtterBox company as a whole. I have dropped my phones on numerous occasions, and have never cracked my screens. Some people complain about them being too bulky, but I look at a smartphone as an expensive piece of equipment that I want to last and be protected. I have almost everyone in my family converted over to an OtterBox case now. If you want your phone to be protected, buy and OtterBox Defense case. You won't regret it!

Rubber too soft for frequent use
Overall, the case is fairly protective aslong as you don’t submerge your phone in water. However, the rubber flap covering the charging port pulls on the rubber frame everytime you open it. It causes the rubber frame that surrounds the phone to become stretched out, & thus, very loose. This is the second case like this I’ve used & Ive had the same experience both times. After about 10 months or so, the rubber frame covering the bottom of the phone becomes so loose that pushing it back into place doesn’t really work. I am now trying another brand, which is supposedly waterproof, & definitely cheaper.

Works great !
What can I say? It's a great case! We got this for my son who got his first phone. I wanted it to be completely protected since he was new to it. It's a great color since he likes blue. He thinks it looks "cool". He got my oldest daughters old phone passed down to him. He had no idea it was a used phone since the case looks cool and it covers everything. He has dropped it a few times . No harm no foul. Thank you otter box!

Maximum safety
You can't go wrong with OtterBox. I need the maximum protection because I'm a big phone dropper, which is why I only go for the Defender. I love how it has the screen protection built in, so you also get protection from scratches. I've dropped my phone so many times, in such violent ways, that if it wasn't for my case, I would have gone broke. If you're like me, don't waste your money on cheaper cases. Yes, it's bulky, but that's what you need if you're going to be dropping your phone. I just hope in the future Otterbox makes this case compatible with extra phone lenses, I'd love that!
