Second pair, love them
My last pair of Meindls wore out, and in replacing them I made the mistake of being convinced by a salesperson to buy a cheaper brand (after nearly 37 years of buying boots, I should have known better; you get what you pay for). A walk in the Pennines in wet snow revealed the perils of trying to save money on walking boots - my feet were sodden within an hour, so they are now relegated to summer lowland walks, and I bought another pair of Meindl Burmas for hill walking. These are among the best boots I have ever owned. Only a pair of Scarpa Trionic Mantas bought 1986 were on a par. These Meindls can be worn on the hill straight out of the box, no breaking in was needed for me. They keep my feet dry in the wettest of conditions, the sole is great and provides a lot of confidence on wet rock. The lacing system is very easy and the cuff just right, no digging in to the achilles. Perfect boots for me, sizing as expected.

Light warm and durable!
I get a pair of these once a year or two.I live in them on my farm and provided you look after them they last.Much longer than other makes I tired. They are expensive, but in my view worth every penny. But like any leather product, they will eventually succumb to the constant wear in a fairly hostile environment…

I love these boots
I go hill walking most weekends and I bought my first pair of Burmas in 2010 after my other boots disintegrated. It was so funny, so my brother and I started hill walking in 1997 and we were out almost every weekend. For some reason we just stopped in 2005 but stated up again in 2009. When we started up again my boots at the time, had been stored in my rucksack for five years. One day we were walking the Edale ridge and heading towards Hollins Cross from Lose Hill, when my boots literally fell apart. It was so funny. A lady leant me a spare boot lace so that I could tie the boot parts to my foot for the trek up Mam Tor and back to the car. Anyway, I bought my first pair of Burmas and they've lasted me 11 years. This is my second pair and they immediate fit like a glove.

Poor insole design for the price/brand.
I have a couple of other pairs of Meindl shoes and boots that are excellent, so I was surprised by the poor insole system for these boots. There is a fairly standard removable insole with the standard slightly furry/fluffy texture, but then below this there is a hard plastic plate that is built in to the boot, presumably as an aid to stability. I find that it is also too slippery for the chosen insoles to maintain their grip with the result that they gradually slip forwards as I walk, eventually pinching my toes and forcing me to stop and remove boots to adjust.I have fixed this problem by using spray mount adhesive to stick the insole in more permanently, but it's hardly ideal for what should be a fairly perfect boot imo. Certainly not as impressed as I was with the 10 year old Salomon boots they replaced.Other than this design flaw, the boots seem fine. Would be nice if some of the eyelets/hooks were of the cleating type.

The best
My everyday footwear for 20 years - and that’s two pairs. This is my third, so I don’t expect to replace these until 2034 after a resole or two!

Can't beat a pair of great boots
I have had a few pairs of hiking boots over the years and most of them have been perfect for what I wanted them for. My last pair however were great in everyday until I hiked in bad weather and they leaked and were not very grippy on the rocks. Actually I slipped a few times making them quite dangerous to wear. So I now only wear them while out walking the dog. These Meindl Men's Burma GTX boots though, these are the real deal. Comfy waterproof sturdy and have amazing grip on the wet rocks. More than o wanted to pay but I am glad I did now I've used them for a few trips.

Wear warranty
These boots were very expensive but were boasted to last around 6 years before they might need new soles fitting. I wore these out in 6 months! I returned them to Meindl. They agree they are worn out but do not accept it is a warranty failure. They say I have been walking on the wrong type of surface!! I actually thought they were joking. They wanted to charge me £105 to resole them taking 11 weeks. This is the worst customer service I have ever known. I would not recommend these boots to anyone.
