The McGill 2" Reach Punchline Hole Punch is a versatile and ergonomic tool designed for creating 5/16 inch round shapes with ease. Its 2-inch reach allows for flexible positioning, while the soft plastic handles ensure comfort during repetitive use. With a high-capacity receptacle, you can keep punching longer without the hassle of frequent emptying.

Sturdy hole punch, long reach, can punch through plastic
This hole punch makes clean holes in paper, cereal-box cardboard, and thin plastic. The holes' edges are not ragged or raised. The reach of the hole punch is 2 inches from the edge of a piece of paper to the center of the new hole. The punch has a convenient arrangement for catching the disks created by the punch, and the disks then can easily be discarded. The punch's handles are padded with rubber. but if you punch many holes through resistant materials, you may also want to wear padded gloves or mittens. I have used this punch to create thousands of holes in resistant materials, and the punch still works well.

Cover useless, tool works great
Plastic cover that is supposed to contain punched pieces is ineffective, tool works great otherwise. Very happy with purchase - bought for punching laminated business cards. Used postit tape to hold cover shut until needed to empty.

Works great for Sandpaper
I really got this because I needed to punch holes in sandpaper that didn't align with my sander. It's pretty cheaply made and the piece that punches the hole is a little difficult to close but it serves its purpose well.

Swapped Out
5/24/13I've used this brand Mc Gill before and LOVE their product. It's sturdy and lasts a very long time. I ordered 5 of these and when I received them, it was HORRIBLE!It came with NO packaging, no handle covering, and no McGill mark anywhere to be found. I believe that the company that sold me this product did a swap out and it's VERY disappointing. It wasn't even the 5/16" punch! It was just the regular 1/8" punch. Anybody who is wanting to purchase this product should look into this vendor before purchasing it.5/31/13Be-aware... I just physically received a call from "Price Busters" very upset about my feedback. Of course prior to this phone call he did express his unhappiness via email. He kept insisting how ruthless and harsh my feedback was, but wasn't very concerned about why I was so upset. When I told him why I was upset (because he swapped out the product I ordered and replaced with a generic one) he told me he knew about it. When I asked why, he just hung up on me. But now in order for me to return this product that he sent me wrong I have to pay for shipping. Before purchasing, I would email to find out with them if this is the real MC Gill product. This product should come in a plastic packaging with a very comfortable purple handle covering on it. Good luck to you all.PS. Do not leave your phone# on the shipping end if you do not want the vendors to call you like this. You are not protected in that end.

This hole punch takes a lot of force to use and hurts my hand
I ordered this hole punch because I need to make holes in the center of English paper piecing templates. A hole in the center makes the templates easier to remove once the pieces have been sewn together to make a quilt block. A few days ago I got a hole punch but it only went in about 3/4 of an inch, which worked for my smaller pieces. So I ordered this one for my larger shaped cardstock papers. This works fine, but takes a whole lot more force to punch the holes than the other one does. I have 600 pieces to punch. I'm going to have to do this in shifts because my hand is getting very sore very fast. Yesterday I punched 700 pieces with the other one in just over an hour with no strain on my hand. The only thing I do like on this one is the plastic reservoir that catches the circles of paper. It holds well and it's very easy to empty and snap back into place. Other than that, I regret ordering this one.

They work fine, but don't expect perfection
Upon receiving these, I immediately opened and checked to see if they worked properly. In this case, they did. I had one un-opened which I recently opened, and it did not function as well. The product as is works fine for me as I use it in my business, thousands of times. Based on the price, I don't expect them to last forever, but they can break or not work as well in a week or six months. I purchased a metal hole punch with a1/8" round, and it has worked flawlessly for years. I wish this were the case for the 1/16" and the 5/16"; I would rather spend $60.00 once thenhave to re-purchase. This is only a temp. situation for me as I intend to replace the sealing bar in my heat seal unit which has a built in hole punch to the tune of $600.00. They do not make a 5/16", only a 3/8", which is a bit too big for my product, so I have been procrastinating.

A Hole of a Good Punch!
Needed the 5/16" size, which is nowhere to be found at the office supply stores. Often these hand punches are dull, or the male and female parts don't quite line up, resulting in a frayed edge or an incomplete punch, but it provides a nice clean cut. The 2" deep jaw hinge is also necessary for my purposes.

Great punch
Every teacher needs this!! Easy to use and a must have for those times that traditional punches don’t work.
