Does not work well
This seems to be some China cheapo stuff. It does not perform as expected as what I saw with the tool that my IT guy was using at the office.

Cheap product that works
I bought this a while ago, but only just recently used it. The only part I used was the bit where you connect the two handheld parts to either end of ethernet cables to check connectivity. I bought a house that had DIY network wiring, and a closet that was vomiting cables. It wasn't clear which cable end and ethernet jack were mapped to. It took about 10 minutes to map out the entire house thanks to the tester.I don't know much about network wiring or testing cables, so perhaps there was something else I could have done other than using the tester. However, the cost of the tester was very low, and it was so easy to use. I'm very happy I bought it.I didn't follow the directions - it seemed fairly intuitive to use for what I wanted to do. The construction of the product is fair, but it feels pretty cheap. I didn't spend much, so I'm fine with it being a bit on the flimsy side. This 5 stars for me due to the fact that it is cheap and it worked great. I might have a different feeling about it if I were some sort of network technician and wanted to use it daily. I think I would still like it enough since the cost is low.

Cheaply made, but good bang for the buck.
The item is cheaply made and a bit fragile, but it works well and has a lot of functionality! (Tracer, cable tester, voltage test, flashlight, etc.) It also comes with all accessories including a case, and even batteries as well. A good addition to the tool bag for occasional use.

The wire tracer part works fine, but the wire tester is not working
The wire tracer part works fine, but the wire tester is not working. It only cycles through 3 of the twisted pairs even on a known working RJ45 CAT 5 cable. The main reason I bought this was to test cables in the wall. It will work for the second purpose of mapping the network.Update 6-2-2017. Than scan function failed today. The beebing just started to fade and is almost unhearable with a new battery. This item worked out of the box and with 3 different uses within 2 weeks it was not working. I am returning.

Average..Quality needs improvement
Pros:-Price-UsabilityCons:-Length of LifeQuality: The quality here could definitely be better. I have used this for about a year before it died on me. I previously had a different brand that worked just as good and lasted me a long time. (I left it out in the rain.. my fault). However, this one died on me when I needed it and the tester stopped working. It would always say that certain pairs were bad when they weren't.. that can cause some confusion! (trust me)!Value: If you are looking for something that's affordable then this is for you. Just remember what you paid for it and don't expect the functionality of a $300 tracer/tester.

Died too soon
Died within a year. Worked well before then, though.

Works very well for the price and not bare bones
Came with Net and Phone patches, clips, and pouch. Worked out of the box with surprising sensitivity and versitility for a very cheap price. I am not expert in this but I am an engineer so my expectations are colored for practicality and this met my expectations. Would recommend it to home users and DIYers. Prompt shipping, Low price.

It works for what I bought it for
I just purchased a new home that is prewired for ethernet. Each room has a socket plate with coax and RJ45 sockets. They all come together in a box in the wall in my garage. But the CAT5 cables are unterminated and unmarked in that box. So I needed a tool that will allow me to trace each cable and then test the connection once I terminate them with an RJ45 plug. This tool made it easy to do just that.Be advised that it looks and feels like a cheap toy. So what? As long as it works. Also, the instructions, while in English, are obviously written by someone who is not native to the language. You'll learn more about the tool by playing with it than by trying to read the instructions.Oh yes, the whole set comes in a handy pouch that neatly holds all the tools and the instruction sheet--only the pocket for the instruction sheet is upside down. So if you want to look like a Techno Ranger and wear this pouch on your belt, be advised that the instructions will fall out. :)
