Solid Thule product, works well on Mazda 3
works well on my Mazda 3 (2008). Thule instructions actually limit the Mazda 3(2008) to only the 910XT version for 2 bikes but the fixing mechanism and all components are the same between 910XT and 911XT except for the length of the tube from which the bikes hang. I am using the 911XT for only two bikes now but wanted to have the extra third there in case my little kid's bike fits on the carrier in the next year or in case we change to a different car which will also formally support the 911XT. This carrier is very easy to install and has not damaged my car so far in any way. It takes me 5 minutes to install the bike carrier. Being able to fold down the supporting tubes when no bikes are mounted is a huge bonus compared to other products. In that way the carrier only extends minimally beyond the car. I have been driving around Boston area roads which are renown for their potholes and so far the carrier and bikes have been holding up very well and feel safely mounted. Would recommend it to everyone. One of my two bikes is a women's bike without the straight top bar for which I had to get the Thule Frame Adapter 982XT, https://www.amazon.com/Thule-982XT-Frame-Adapter/dp/B004KZS5GW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497495028&sr=8-1&keywords=thule+adapter I got that frame adapter half price at an EMS store for $20. I think the regular Thule price is way too high. It is a very simple piece and would have considered buying a cheaper product. While I am happy to pay more for Thule quality for the actual bike carrier as this is quite delicate technology and needs to be done well to not damage the car and hold the bikes well and safely, the frame adapter is a simple extensible tube - doing that well is no rocket science and shouldn't cost $50.

Great frame, terrible straps
This bike rack was very easy to assemble and has some very clever features, such as flip-down arms and little plastic tensioners that keep the bike from swinging around. We purchased it it to carry our two e-bikes, which, due to their size, will not fit on smaller carriers. This rack would be 5 stars across the board if not for the terribly low quality straps and hooks that lash the thing to your car. They cut so many corners here and it hurts the quality of the carrier. 1: the hooks won’t hook unless they’re crazy tight, 2: the straps thread through the carrier frame so the same strap that holds the bottom of the trunk turns 90% degrees inside the frame to then clips to the side of the trunk. And 3: the tightening clasps are absolute garbage. They’re the kind of thing you’d find on a cheap backpack, and between the friction of this crappy plastic thing, and the friction and loss of mechanical advantage from the right angle, it is very difficult to tighten the straps for a secure fit. It’s going to aggravate you because the side clips will keep falling off while you try to tighten it. Terrible design.

Cheap, cheap cheap!
Bought this 3 bike rack from Amazon and was excited to use this to take our bikes along with us on vacation. After looking at the rack in a big box retailer I found it for $40 cheaper and ordered it online. Two days later it arrived at our door. Being amateur bicyclists, we had read decent reviews on several bike racks and decided that the Thule would probably be the best fit and bang for our money. We assembled the bike rack and excitedly mounted it onto our 2013 RAV4 SUV. As I was putting this thing together I couldn't help but notice how poorly constructed it was. The plastic hub discs looked like they were spreading apart right out of the box!! I put this momentary worry aside and hoped that after it was fully assembled and strapped to our vehicle, it would somehow seem more sturdy. Sadly, this never happened. I cannot imagine how this thing is sold as a "3 bike" rack. This thing is barely reliable enough to hold onto one adult mountain bike much less 2 or 3. From the moment we left the house we were watching this thing shift back and forth and both horizontal arms swayed from side to side. This is with all straps fully taught and correctly installed. It is JUNK pure and simple. Cheap plastic, flimsy hubs. Metal clips scratched the edges of our rear hatch. If you need a rack to get your bike from the garage to the end of the driveway, then this might be the one for you, If you plan on traveling over some distance with your expensive bikes on the back of your vehicle, you'd be better off with more reliably made product. Even at $40 this thing wouldn't be worth buying. Save your money and take a good look at the construction of this and comparable trunk mount racks before buying. If this was for one bike or a set of ski poles it would maybe suffice. Don't play roulette with your bikes on the freeway.

Works Perfectly
I bought this carrier to take two bikes to Burning Man and found it to be very easy to mount to my PT Cruiser and easy to hang my bikes on. I have two women's beach cruisers and had bought a bar that most carriers had told me that I would need to mount the girls bikes. As it turned out, I didn't need the support bar, we just mounted the bikes at an angle and they rode fine. Our bikes are quite heavy as they were not built to be light and we have loaded them up with racks, baskets, carrying boxes and decorations. The carrier handled the job very well. A 1200 mile round trip mile and some VERY BUMPY dirt roads. The carrier was very good to my vehicle, no marks or damage and though I did remove the bikes to open the hatch, I did not have to remove the carrier. Our bikes are very WIDE due to all the baskets etc. but they were able to fit on the three bike carrier just fine. I highly recommend this carrier. I would have been in it pretty deep if it had failed. Many have asked if this carrier will fit their vehicle - Just go to Thule's web site and their FIT GUIDE will tell you. If this rack won't fit - They have one that will! I have had this rack for three years now and it is still holding up great and is supper easy to work with - LOVE IT!

great bike carrier
This is a nice piece of gear to carry your loved ones. pros: I love the antisway pieces in the bike holders, avoids most of the sway and the bikes touching each other or the back of the car. I also love the easiness of turning down or removing the arms with the bike holders, so you can clear the space in the back of the car and remove weight to open the car back door. Cons: because the arms with the holders are removable, they have some degree of movement relative to the to the main piece, and when the bikes are on, that makes the arms to move and oscillate with bumps in the road, actually a little more than expected and desirable, although they stay safe in place. In this line, the silver pieces holding the removable arms in place look a little fragile to last very long, but i guess Thule figured it out and actually are resilient enough to last. A limitation to consider before buying it is the weight it can hold, 105 pounds. Good for three road bikes, but not enough for three average heavy mountain bikes. In conclusion, very happy with it, a neat piece of gear well built and reasonably priced.

Decent rack, but not Thule's best
I have a Thule roof rack and roof mounted bike racks, ski racks, and cargo boxes. Love all of them. So this one was a little disappointing. First of all, unless you have a large bike, you will have a hard time squeezing it onto this rack at all. I'm 5'11" with a 54cm road bike and it fits just right. My wife's bike is 49cm and I really have to wrench it just to get it on. I imagine this multi-bike carrier would be designed for families, so the fact that you can barely fit women's or kids' bikes on here is definitely an issue. Secondly, there is BARELY enough room to fit three bikes on it (I have the 3-bike version). I was able to do it only by spreading the cradles as far apart as possible, and even then I had to smash each bike against the others. On the positive side, once you do your initial set up of the rack, it is super quick and easy to install and take down. Probably one minute each. Very convenient. Also, the rack + bikes are very secure against the trunk, not even any wiggling or bouncing while driving. I was very nervous about this since I am used to roof racks, but it really does stay secure back there. Also, Thule's warranty and customer service are very good. I've had them send me warranty replacement parts before, always without issue. It's a decent rack, especially if you have larger framed adult bikes. But for the premium price I just don't think it's worth it for this one.

Sturdy but difficult to fit the bikes through the arms of the carrier
It’s sturdy and easy to assemble but it’s difficult to put the bikes so we end up only putting 2 and not three. Need to move the bikes in all directions and push hard to get the best angle to make it fit. Once it’s on and you’ve secured the mount: it’s stable (we’ve done long trips with bad weather). Before you buy: take the measures to see if the arms can easily fit.

Excellent Buy!
I've owned this bike rack for approximately a month now and I am very happy with my purchase. Thule is a great product and I'm very happy that I purchased this bike rack. It's very easy to install and fits practically all makes and models of cars. The manual did not recommend the bike rack for my boyfriend's 2001 Ford Taurus, but it fit fine and we were comfortable with traveling with the bike rack on his car. We only checked to see if the car would fit my car before we purchased the bike rack, but everything worked out fine. I really like the material, sturdyness, and overall quality of this product. I've read that someone or a few people weren't able to fit three bikes on this rack. We have 2 adult bikes and 1 children's bicycle and all three of the bikes fit fine. We've also traveled with 3 adult bikes and the fit was good as well. Just make sure you read the instructions and tips that come with the bike rack and you should have no problems.

Good quality but not practical
I used it few times and noticed that rear truck is damaged on my car (pushed inside), exactly where the rack seats on...
