I purchased a less expensive cat scratching mat before I purchased this one and you get what you pay for... that one stunk like something toxic and poisonous. This one says it has a slight odor that dissipates quickly and that made me a little wary about buying it but I'm glad I did! I find the claim to be very true; the smell was not bad and it aired out quickly so it was not a problem at all. This mat is a nice large size and my cats love it and use it every day. It seems to be quite durable too. I'm highly satisfied with this purchase. Don't waste your money on small, poorly made, toxic, stinky products, your cats are worth the good quality and it's cheaper in the long run because the others may be a waste of money (like the one I purchased first). This one is well worth it! The quality is great, the size it great and the price is reasonable. One note: I read in some reviews that there was a discrepancy in the trim color. Some are white trim and some are black trim. I'm not sure where it indicated which color I was supposed to get (I was under the impression the trim would be white) but my trim was black (which I prefer anyway as it matches our design). You might want to ask the seller what color trim you'll be getting before you make purchase (if the color is important to you).

This mat has been working out very well for us! It's very sturdy and a good size. My cat is on the smaller side (12-15 lbs), but I believe it could accommodate a larger cat as well. Are first, he only laid on it every so often, but I think he preferred when I put it on the wall instead (another reviewer did that which made me want to try it). I stuck some velcro toys on it, and he liked stretching or jumping on them to get them back! I would recommend this to someone who needs scratching options for their kitty and versatility in its placement. Speaking from experience, it can be hard to have enough scratching posts in a smaller apartment. I've never had any issues with my kitty scratching up furniture or the couch, but I like the idea that it can be used for that as well. It's high quality scratching material, very reasonable cost, and will last a long time.

I used this to fix up 2 scratching posts that my cat's love. I still had some left over. The adhesive isn't the best so I did have to use hot glue and a staple gun to help secure it. But it has lasted at least 6 months. My cats use the posts a lot so it has to be replaced again but this is better than spending all that money on a new scratching post.

This scratching pad is absolutely perfect! I was very surprised at the quality of this product, for such a low price. My cat, Elvis, is very picky and I really thought it would take a long time for him to even try it and worried that he would turn his little cat nose up at it as he does everything else, but I was wrong! He was scratching on it within the first hour of me putting it out, and this pad has saved the life of my very long, expensive panel drapes in my living room! I had tried a scratching post made of supposedly durable cardboard before, and that was making a mess, but Elvis hasn't gone near the cardboard post since getting this sisal mat. I love the sisal material, it really is thick and tough, but it's still comfortable enough apparently that Elvis even naps on it daily! The size is perfect, and it's a little bigger than what I was expecting. The product details are very accurate on this product, which is rare. I believe that this mat is going to last us a long time, and you can't beat the price for something this well-made. Elvis loves his new sisal mat, and I love that it makes him happy, saves my furniture, doesn't smell or get dirty very quickly, is thick and heavy enough with bottom design that keeps it from sliding and moving, has great stitching and design, and has velcro on the back for hanging or wrapping around a post! After using this mat, we will never go back to messy cardboard again! I'm more than happy with this product!

Does not stick or adhere to much at all. The legs(cardboard)on my cat tree or steps (mdf wood), my faux leather chair nothing. The the sticky backing tries to come off the mat itself when peeling of to stick.. overall nothing pleasant about this purchase..it lifts and comes off of every surface I put it on except tile(which is not what I got it for) The only perk is my cats like it..other than than completely useless

The mat seems well constructed and looks to last for a while, but it's up to your cat whether they will like it or not. My cat doesn't seem that interested in scratching or lying on it, and seems to much prefer the vertical sisal scratching post I have. Your cat might like it, so it really depends on your cat. The velcro they provided to mount it up on the wall is useless and you're better off nailing or screwing it into the wall if you want to use it vertically.

With 3 indoor cats, my walls looked like a shredded mess. I put this carpet up on my walls, and my cats are in heaven because I'm not yelling at them to stop. They can scratch to their hearts' content, and my walls stay safe. This carpet sticks really well.
