Works Well!
The heat mat arrived quickly. It was rolled up, so I unrolled it and laid a couple of small boards that were heavy enough to keep it flat but not overly heavy to damage anything and kept it like that for a day or two. It flattened the mat so I could place it on the shelf I use for growing my seedlings. Plugged it in, placed my seedling trays on top, and it slowly heated up. I had no problems with the mat, it worked as it should and my seeds started sprouting within several days. The price was lower than most I saw online and I feel it was fairly well made for the price. The only thing I would probably do and suggest to others to also do, is purchase a thermostat to regulate the temperature. While I was starting seeds with the domes on the trays it was fine, but once they started sproutiing I would prop the dome to allow more air flow and help lower the temperature. Once most were sprouted, I removed the domes and kept the heat mat on for only about another week or so. I had little digital thermometers left from when I kept a leopard gecko and used that to keep track of the heat around the seedlings. The temperature could easily reach 90 degrees and I was afraid it was too high for them. Other than needing the ability to regulate the temperature, I am very happy with this purchase.

It kinda works
This heat mat sorta works. I mean it does get warm, but if the room that you're using it in is cool then good luck getting it to reach any temp above 70F. I do have a thermometer hooked up to it to help regulate it in case it does get hot. If you keep a humidity dome over top of our seed trays, then it can easily reach whatever temp you set it too, but soon as you take the dome off it struggles. Unfortunately, you can't keep leaving the humidity dome over seedlings after they germinated or they'll really start to stretch but some seedlings like Begonias for instance still like a heat mat under them and this is the part where it struggles. Otherwise it seems to work fine and does pretty much what I need it to do which is to get my seedlings germinated fast.

A great mat for those looking to start seeds
The mat works perfectly for what it was designed for. Heats evenly and quickly and doesn't overheat. The only con was that the internal package was shredded despite the box being fine, but the mat seems to work fine.As a 20 year member of Amazon I rely on independent reviews when shopping. Great size
I love the size of these heating mats for starting seeds! They fit nicely under my seedling trays, and there isn't a hangover! I have one under each tray, and as seedlings sprout, I remove the mat and have not deprived any little guys who have not sprouted! These were the only ones that served my purpose!

warms my meyer lemon tree nicely
I live in northeast pa. It is too cold to leave my lemon trees outdoors in the winter, so in they go. With oil being so costly in the winter, I keep the themostat set at 65. It made my trees miserable. They had cold roots and started dropping like no tomorrow. I started to look for alternatives to keep the pots warmer, and this was the ticket. I wrapped the pot with these heat mats and yes they are thin and stiff until they heat up. I tied them to the pots, plugged them in, and hoped for best. They have a nice warmth, that is not too warm, just enought to take the chill away. Been using them for a few weeks, and they work well. New leaves and growth. I would recommend this product not only for seed use but also to warm fragile plants as well.

As others have said it is best to use these heat mats with a thermostat
As far as I can tell, these mats are identical to the higher priced mats that I own, and they work exactly the same. As others have said it is best to use these heat mats with a thermostat, but they are expensive, so instead I put a cotton towel between the mat and plastic tray, which gives me the temperature I need without overheating. I use my mats in an unheated garage that varies from 45 degrees to 65 degrees during the time of year I am germinating seeds. Of course one should stop using the heat mat once the seeds have germinated so you don't risk cooking the roots. If you want a seed heat mat, these are as good as they get for the price.

Propagating made easy!
I resisted buying one of these for years, but im a convert now. This makes germinating fool-proof! I'm getting a much better success rate with my seeds since I bought this mat last year, and am thinking I'll probably buy another one. I use it along with peat plugs inside plastic trays under clear domes, and it's helpd me grow flowers I've never had any success with in past. Just keep an eye on the color of your peat, ecause it certainly dries out a lot more quickly with the heat mat going, but on the whole it's been a shot in th arm for my spring planting, and for the "second wave" annuals that go out late-ish for their late-summer-last-hurrah.

Great for starting seeds
This is a very durable mat. I used it to start some acerola trees from seed along with some passion fruit. I used it in combination with Burpee's self watering seed starter. I have read where most people have trouble with both of these seeds and the passion fruit was two inches tall in 3 weeks and the acerola started from seed in about 3 weeks. I am more than pleased with this combination and would certainly recommend this to anyone. I plan to buy more for the green house I am buying next. The price is less than many other mats but the quality is top notch.
