Kidde 408-900-0102-02 KN-COSM-B Battery-Operated Combination Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarm with Talking Alarm

I bought 3 of these to replace the 3 I had that lasted over the exasperation date. Ten years worth of peace of mind. They are easy to install. I hung mine and it only takes 5 mins. each to set them up. Very good product.

This is a replacement for another Kiddie Talking alarm we had. The Carbon Monoxide unit had an eight year life but lasted an extra 3 months before we had to replace. We were very pleased with the old one. This new one has an increased Carbon Monoxide unit life to 10 years. Also has a "hush" button that you can push to silence the alarm if it goes off when cooking, etc. We also like that it talks as well as beeps, so you don't have to remember what a particular beep pattern means. It will say "Fire, Fire", "Carbon Monoxide"; even "Low Battery" so you know when to replace batteries. Great product.

We replaced 7 Kidde Battery-Operated Combination Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarms that were installed in our house when we bought it in 2013. They were all dated 2009. The new ones came with batteries and were super easy to install. We didn't have to change any wiring or bases.

I had the previous version and when it started notifying me that it was time to replace the alarm I immediately chose this one. It fits my older bracket which made installation a snap. It's quite loud and the voice definitely makes it a real standout. I also like the fact that the Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarmes are in one unit

This detector replaced a similar one I had. Its life had run out. It works well, and I like the voice warning. It fits perfectly over the old fixture that was already on the wall.

I bought this when a similar unit purchased over 7 years ago alarmed - correctly - that the expiration date had been reached. Throughout the previous 7 years, the earlier version always tested OK and seemed to perform as designed. This new replacement has a 10 year life and operates basically the same as the old one. Best part is that the mounting plates are interchangeable, so I didn't need to install a new mounting plate!

This is our second purchase of this alarm, because the first set we had passed expiration date. Saved our house, literally. Battery charger caught on fire in an upstairs bedroom. Housesitter told us they initially thought the fridge (door open) alarm was going off so ignored the noise until the alarm started screaming "Fire..!!! Fire...!!!" at which point they raced upstairs in time to smother the fire with significant damage to that bedroom but before the entire house burned. WOW..!!! Won't be without "talking" alarms ever...

It seems to work okay. I hope it never needs to be used.
