Very detailed
I like the way the book is organized. It's nice to be able to find what will work for complexion, or foliage, for example. It's also a good reference for the characteristics of different paints... which are permanent, liftable etc.

Helpful Up-to-date Book
Great book with up-to-date colors. It’s very helpful when trying to mix a certain color without wasting a lot of paint by just guessing, particularly for beginners (and even advanced!) watercolorists.

Watercolor mixing directory book
This is an excellent book for those who enjoy watercolor, it is used at my classes and it is a great book to get ideas. The book came in great condition and there were no problems through the service, though it was said to be gently used, it was in such good condition it didn't look as though anyone used it.

Using the Watercolor Mixing Directory
This Directory is by far the best of the books on mixing watercolor paint. It has more basic colors, more mixes than other books I have looked at or have bought. The mixes are very close to the actual paint - and always close enough to know approximately what you will get when mixing two colors together.

Excellent reference book!
Clear, concise, logically organized and comprehensive. Even the size and binding help make it a reference book I will turn to often. Well done!

How lightfast are the pigments of the control palette?
Book seems ideal but looking in its preview it seems that three out of the nine pigments (page 42 of the book) have lightfastness issues. I do not know the other nine pigments which are used in the "control palette" but this is a reason for not trying the dyadic color variations where the one pigment is not completely lightfast :Permanent carmine is almost not lightfast "However its light fastness is at the lower end of the acceptable range" ([...]) and almost the same problem holds for PV23 "Examined overall, however, PV23 is a pigment that (1) is not transparently labeled "blue" or "red" by manufacturers; (2) produces highly variable lightfastness test results; (3) may produce unreliable lightfestness test results within a single pigment, given the wide range in lightfastness test results across different grades; and (4) therefore presents a difficult sourcing problem for paint manufacturers, who must themselves do rigorous testing in order to be confident in the quality of the pigment and pigment manufacturer they are dealing with." [...] and for PY3 "I found significant differences in the sunstruck pigment color across the various watercolor brands in both the full strength and tint samples. To be sure of the paint you use, I suggest you do your own lightfastness test, both on pure pigment paints and on any convenience green paints made with PY3" [...] .

Watercolor Mixing Directory
I wish I had seen this book when I first began using watercolour. Mixing, combining, staining, sedimentary, granulation...all are dealt with here in a very visual manner and the preface to the book sets the stage. While it doesn't have pretty pictures and technique suggestions, it forms the base for understanding the various paints, the names of the paints and which does what on your paper when combined or overlaid with what.
