Elgato Key Light, Professional 2800 Lumens Studio Light

I read some of the negative reviews of these lights and actually ordered a Key Light - Air from elsewhere to compare. These are 2x the size and brightness of the Air version and for me the desk clamps work really well. The poles are sturdy and extend to a good height. One thing I would say is that the 2 extension rings of the poles were VERY tight to turn the first time. I actually had to use mole grips to turn the top one on both poles (I bought 2). However, once I freed them they now work just fine. I have used the lights on my desk for Webex video calls and they have really improved my video appearance. I also do some video work with a green screen. For this I ws easily able to move both lights into my lounge and the fact they go to a good height meant I could get them into right position. Very flexible, fantastic light and you have complete control from your phone or straight from an icon on your desktop. Using mine just fine from both Mac and iPhone. Really delighted with these and the video I was able to capture with both webcam and SLR was great. Looks totally professional. Give off very little heat which is good in my small home office and long power leads for flexible placement. Only things I would improve: 1) The ball point at he top he lamps themselves fit into could be better. Once it is done up it is great, but you have to do it up pretty tight. 2) Would be nice to have some cable retainers on the poles. The Air version have done a better job of this. 3) Power adapters are pretty large. Make sure you have adequate height above your sockets. Other than those points, for all the uses I bought these for, they are brilliant. Expensive, but applicable control is ace for me. Oh yes, nd the variable light is great to work by as well!

I bought two of these Elgato Key Lights on Black Friday in preparation for my long planned return to Twitch. That return is still pending due to an old partner situation, but the lights themselves have been well tested in the meantime. In terms of brightness and quality, they’re excellent. Plenty of light, very even, and they make a huge difference to how a room and camera setup looks. The control options are great too when everything is behaving properly. However, there is one fairly important thing to be aware of. If the cable comes loose or the software is outdated or misbehaving, be prepared to be instantly flashbanged. They default to full brightness and it is not subtle. It’s funny the first time and much less funny when it happens unexpectedly. Once set up correctly and kept up to date, they’re very solid and do exactly what you want from a studio light. Just make sure cables are secure and software is current unless you enjoy being temporarily blinded. Overall, great lights with a small but memorable downside. Still very happy with them, just slightly more cautious now.

I’ve wanted to buy this lamp for a very long time. I had previously ordered a similar lamp from a completely different company, but the quality was very different from this one—the buttons on that lamp were located on the cable, and the options for adjusting the lighting angle and brightness were very limited. But when I received this Elgato lamp, I was pleasantly surprised—the material is very high quality, and the lamp head feels quite heavy; in other words, it doesn’t look like flimsy plastic. The material is completely different from that of the lamp I bought earlier from another company—the difference in quality is simply enormous. I was able to connect the Elgato to Wi-Fi very easily, and the range of brightness and lighting settings is simply excellent—you can customize everything just the way you like it. I’m very satisfied.

Edit 08/03/2019: I returned the original item and have just received the replacement. My experience thus far couldn't be better. The light has installed to my network instantly via iPhone. I can only assume that the item I received originally was defective. The installation instruction are somewhat lacking with regards to the instaling the light via iphone. I'll detail the steps I took below so that future purchasers may have some guidance. Step 1: Connect iPhone to the the wifi network Step 2: Construct the light and place it where you intend to use it. (Note you may have to move it closer to the modem for installation and then move it back to where you intend to use it). Step 3: Turn the light on and wait 15 seconds for it fully boot Step 4: On the iPhone look at the list of wifi devices, the light should show as an accessory at the bottom of the list. Step 5: Pair the light via iPhone Step 6: Install control center on the desktop where you will use the light Step 7: Open control center and click 'add accessory' Step 8: Choose the light, wait 60 seconds, the light will turn off and on during this time and then that's it. Once again, be warned, as of this writing there is no android support, reviewers on youtube suggest that there is but there isn't, I doubt they even checked. My problem with elgato customer support was an isolated incident, their systems had crashed at the time, just an unfortunate coincidence. ========================================================================================== BE WARNED! This light requires access to your internet through a wireless connection. I've tried connecting the light wirelessly though my desktop pc, an iphone, a mac book and to this point none have proven successful, I've trouble shooted everything I can think of and it's just not connecting. Despite what people have posted online there doesn't appear to be any android support that I've encountered, so I can't test that. The kicker in all of this is that the elgato customer support link conveniently has now stopped working for me so I'm stumped. If i'm able to get the light to work I will amend my review to review it's quality, but for installation my review remains a solid 1 star (0 if i couid).

I recently bought the Elgato Key Light, and I can’t believe how much it’s improved my streaming setup! Setting it up was a breeze. It has a sleek look that fits perfectly on my desk without taking up too much space. Plus, I can adjust the height and angle, which is super helpful. The lighting is fantastic! I love how I can tweak the brightness and colour temperature. Some days I want a warm, cozy vibe, and other days I need bright, clear light to look sharp on camera. The even lighting makes a huge difference—no more harsh shadows! The best part? The Elgato software lets me control everything from my computer. I can adjust the light without having to get up, which is a lifesaver during streams. I’m definitely thinking about getting more lights to create an even better setup! It’s a bit pricey, but honestly, it’s worth it. The upgrade in my video quality is noticeable, and I feel more professional when I’m live.

The product is great. Before-hand, I was using a bright LED against a white wall - Now, I have this as a soft light and to be honest, on a low percentage of the overall output it provides enough light for detailing. The 2500 Lumens are overkill, but it does make sense if the panels were further away from the object/person and required brighter output. I love the Streamdeck interactions, as well as the fact it's actually a WiFi device. After pairing, I can use my desktop to control the Key Light over the network, regardless of whether my Streamdeck is plugged in or not. It's a little pricey, but it's sturdy and a soft light. It doesn't require a tripod, it just grips onto the desk and sits firmly in place. (Note: Make sure you have a WiFi device for initial setup, I had to use a laptop to pair the Key Light to my network. If your PC has a wireless card, that works too). Overall, great product. I stream, it's brilliant and brings a lot of Quality of Life to my lighting. Tempted to buy a second one...

This is one of the worst product experiences I've had. Largely I guess because the light itself is great and I want to be able to use it, I will just never understand why they decided to leave out any way of having manual controls, and relying on app control via wifi. I knew that was the case when I purchased it, however I decided that it wasn't too much to ask to need to control it via my phone. Wow, how wrong I was. Initial setup via my iPhone was fine. The light creates it's own wifi network, you connect your phone to it, your phone then gets the light connected to your wifi - easy. The problem for me comes after that. The Elgato Control App can never find the light again, and this leaves you completely unable to control the light. I tried resetting the light multiple times, but had to resort to going into my router settings and removing the light from there - this allowed me to go through the initial setup process again. This time I did it via a Macbook. I was met with a similar experience. You initially get connected, you can control the light - it's only later when you go back to the app to get your scene set up, and again the app doesn't find the light. Absolute trash. Why are we making products like this? 2 simple knobs, 1 for brightness, 1 for colour temperature would have prevented this and made this a fantastic piece of kit

Streaming is something that requires not only a great camera but it needs to be paired with a great light source, this Elgato Key Light is such an easy product to install and setup and then it's very versatile for you to automate with your phone, Alexa to bring that one command to rule all the different components you need when you're about to start streaming, working or gaming. Really recommend this one, one is sufficient but if you want to avoid shadows then a pair would really do wonders to the way you look on camera.

Love that you can control it from your phone or computer through the app. Easy to change color temperature, shines bright like a diamond. 5/5 would recommend

These are amazing lights. I’m a full time remote worker who spends roughly six hours a day on active video conference calls. Before these lights I tried at least eight alternative options, but with changing external light and skin tone conditions I could never really achieve the professional look I wanted. These key lights finally solved it! I use lights two elevated on stands above my desk angled in towards either side of my face. I have them connected to a StreamDeck to control on-off, individual brightness, and individual color temp. This lets me adjust them correctly for day time when I have cool side light coming from an adjacent window or night when the only external light is warm overhead room light. The integration with StreamDeck and the Elgato control software has worked well. After a year of use, I’ve only had once or twice that the one lights didn’t immediately respond and a power cycle was all that was needed to reconnect it. The only real downside I’ve found is that they do get hot and can heat up a small room when used for hours at a time. They are expensive, but definitely worth the money if you want that level of control. I strongly recommend pairing with a StreamDeck if you’re using these for a streaming set up and want to adjust the lighting regularly.

La temperatura de color también se controla fácilmente, lo que ayuda muchísimo a mantener el tono de piel natural en cámara. La integración con el software de Elgato es otro punto muy fuerte. En mi caso, tener perfiles guardados (grabación, reunión, directo, noche) me ha ahorrado tiempo y me permite mantener una calidad constante.
