Merrell Men's Intercept Fashion Sneaker

I've never had a hiking shoe or boot not give me blisters as they break in. Now, my trial run with these was 10 days at Disney and Universal, so it was not aggressive terrain. But, we averaged close to 10 miles a day. I packed an extra pair of shoes just in case, but I figured I could break these in on an easy trip like this. I expected to get hot spots and swap my other shoes in every other day. Well, I wore these the entire time. Way more comfortable than my running shoes. They're on the heavier side but they're extremely comfortable. You can barely feel the surface you're walking on. Since I've been back, I've been on one short hike. They're really comfortable. Great arch support and you can barely feel the rocks you're walking on. There is a little slip in the heal, but that's par for the course with a hiking shoe. Again, not so much slip that I developed any blisters in the heal or toe area. My guess is this because there is still enough flex in the shoe, even with a nice thick sole. The toe box is a little cramped, but I have wide feet. Either way it hasn't been an issue. When these wear out, I'll be buying another pair. Might just buy another now in case they stop making them. Really great shoe.

These shoes fit me well 1/2 size larger than most others. The toes are kind of pointed and my feet aren’t. They are very comfortable and I had a pair previously that took years to wear out. They were a little tight on my toes though. I ordered this pair 1/2 size bigger ( I have 2 pair of Merrill shoes that are 8s and fit great) and this solved the problem with my toes. Traction is great. Looks are out of this world. Buy some before they are all gone.

I dislike that you have to play a guessing game to get the correct fitment. Make sure you buy a half-size to full-size bigger than your normal US sizing. Only reason it gets a 4.75 star! I have flat feet so I rolled the dice and got a full size bigger. The arch wasn't an issue on my flat feet, but the toe box was slightly too big. Not the shoes fault, I have weird feet requirements. The sole does feel alittle on the stiff side, but they also feel like I can trek across a tundra in them. These are built like tanks. I tried a memory foam insert but it was too much height added within the shoe itself, forcing the top of my foot into the tongue and laces. I also read in rhe comments that they didn't really have a perceived ventilation in summer months. Im glad I get to mostly use these in the winter. They do feel warm without being an advertised quality/selling point. Looks-wise, they are rugged as hell looking and are stylish for being an entry level lite-hiking shoe focused more on looks

First things first, the color in the Amazon listing is not very accurate. I ordered the Castle Rock color thinking that it's mostly black, kind of a faded black. However, there are hints of dark green/gray in it. Captain hindsight says that a google image search of "castle rock color" would have totally cleared that up. I do stand by the fact that the image for the Castle Rock model posted on Amazon does not look like the actual color. Secondly, the sizing that everyone is talking about is totally true. I was skeptical on which size to get so I actually went to a store that carried some Merrell shoes and tried on a Moab version. I wear a 10.5 so I tried on a Moab in 10.5 and it fit perfectly. Just for reference, I tried on a 11.5 and it was way too big. So, after much reading, I decided to order the size 11 intercept shoe. It arrived, I tried it on and it was too small, length-wise and width-wise. I suppose it MAY have fit after breaking it in but I didn't want to pay all that money for a shoe that may not stretch out. I had to send it back. I just got the 11.5 size in and it fits perfectly! Once I figured out the size issue, I'm happy and can say that they seem to be of awesome quality and I can't wait to take them out on some trails this weekend.

The downside of making the heel thicker would entail making this hiking shoe heaver and would take away the the unique sole design structure. My experience with the MERRELL shoes I purchased; is; that all FOUR (4)pairs of MERRELL shoes that I've purchased; have WORN DOWN HEELS! Yet, the soles look almost new! ALTHOUGH I rotate my Merrell shoes; the HEELS OF THE MERRELL SHOES wear out TOO SOON ---within six to eight months. HEEL REPAIR COST: $30.00+:::((( LACES:: :(( "SORRY" YOU HAVE TO TIE THEM UP! Update: I've had these shoes since 2017. Its almost 2026. I've worn them walking, hiking, casual... then when they started looking a bit beat up... i wore thdm for work. Obviously not my only pair of shoes. But... these will probably be around 2-3 more years. Still comfortable and usable. Previous post: I've had these shoes for 7 years. Soles still good. Small cracks in rubber in front. But I can honestly see these lasting a few more years. Wore them mainly for hiking, walking my dog on trails etc. They've been through mud, soaked,and more. And for the last year, I wore them to work as well (outdoor labor work). To compare... the company bought me work boots that were much more expensive, and those were trash in one year. Which is why I wore these for the last year to work. Basically these are great quality, and worth every penny.

I love the style of these hiking shoes & that they are all leather; & Merrell is a trusted brand. However, these shoes run small & have a very narrow toe box. Based on customer reviews, I ordered a half size larger (12) than I normally wear (11.5), but I received a 11.5! The 11.5 is too small & I am being charged $8 to return them, even though I ordered the larger size! And since the ordering process for this item will not permit the customer to select the appropriate size, I am ordering a replacement pair from another supplier at an additional $35 over the price of these shoes!!

I wear these shoes for work and play and so far I have few complaints. They're grippy in the wet and good for challenging hikes but not very waterproof. They look great but the fit leans towards slim with a high arch which is perfect for me. I'm on my third pair but have never paid full price so shop around and you'll definately find good deals.
