TimelessFrames Metal Wall Photo Frame, 14 by 18-Inch, Silver

I ordered 2 of these to frame two matching pieces of art. Unfortunately one frame arrived noticeably scratched. A deep scratch on the bottom to the point the gold was removed and you could see the silver/metal exposed, and a ton of minor scuffs all along the edges of the frame (as if it was used and had been dropped, or dragged along a rough surface). I returned that one and requested a replacement, so I may update my review when I receive that one.As for the product itself, the other one that is not damaged is nice. Other reviewers said that the hooks are faulty and that it falls off the wall easily (could be why mine is scratched?) but the sellers must have updated the backing bc mine is nothing like the other reviewers described, or pictured. Mine have thick metal clips that grip the back of the frame by pressure. So much pressure that I had get my husband to squeeze the clips and take them off. (You have to remove the clips to get the backing off, and insert the art.) Then I had him squeeze them back on. They are very difficult to remove. There's NO WAY it could fall. It would have to defy gravity (raise itself up off the clip) AND horizontal pressure (squeeze the clip to pop it out).I also read some reviews that said the glass cracked easily when they were handling it. Again, I don't see how. My husband had to apply a considerable amount of pressure to pry those clips off, and the glass didn't crack. Maybe the glass was already compromised due to poor shipping/handling, idk.I will attach a picture of the scratches, and of the quality backing/hooks when I have them with me.

For the price, these are great. Real glass. Simple, stylish frame. Relatively easy to assemble (if you are marginally "handy"). After almost four months of usage, one of the original three failed and fell off the wall. The clip which is used to connect the frame and the wire used to hang the picture simply broke. These clips are tightened via a small phillips head bolt. When tightened, the clip stays securely in place. Neither the wire nor the bolt failed, but the clip actually broke (a piece of the metal must have snapped off).The glass broke from the fall. Thankfully, there doesn't appear to be any damage to the picture within, as the glass broke into large sections/pieces and fell out of the picture, rather than staying in the frame and cutting the picture.As usual, Amazon's customer service is exceptional, and a free replacement is being shipped as soon as one is available (I think the item is on backorder).UPDATE - April 2014The replacement did arrive (sooner than the original backorder estimate) and was quickly up on the wall taking the other defective frame's place. Unfortunately, another one of these failed just recently. Same issue. Hanging mechanism (wire and clip) broke. The result -- a broken picture frame that fell to the ground, shattering the glass.Amazon is issuing another replacement (kudos to Amazon as always). If after this, another fails, I think I will give up on this product. Considering these issues, I am reducing my original rating from 4 stars to 3.UPDATE - MAY 2014Another one of these frames just failed, in the exact same way as before. That's three failures out of an original order of three plus two amazon replacements. Amazon quickly issued a refund, and mentioned possibly removing the item from sale considering the recurring problems with the hanging mechanism. I am decreasing my review from 3 stars to 2.UPDATE - JULY 2014Another failed frame, which fell off the wall, glass shattered everywhere, poster damaged. Just like the previous ones, the hanging mechanism snapped. I am decreasing my review from 2 stars to 1. I give it a one because it would be a good value if they didn't eventually break. If the manufacturer would fix the hanging mechanism, then this would be an excellent product. It appears that they are still for sale on amazon's site, so amazon's flagging of the item wasn't permanent I guess. Nonetheless, amazon customer service has done the right thing as always and quickly issued a refund. Kudos to amazon, as always.

Looking for a real metal poster sized frame with real glass that won't absolutely break your bank account is not at all easy. When I purchased this frame it was under $40 including shipping. The packing was unreal. I was very concerned about how a 2' x 3' piece of glass would arrive safely, but I needn't have been. The frame was packed so well I doubt an elephant stepping on it would have broken it. There were protective styrofoam corners surrounding the frame, and it was all packed in a very sturdy shipping box. My only "problem" is breaking down the box to recycle it. It is so sturdy I think I will have trouble doing it!The frame itself is a nice quality silver colored metal frame with a piece of corrugated cardboard backing going from edge to edge. It does use those metal clips that you must push down in order to pull them out from the edge of the frame back. I find them hard to compress and are a bit challenging to use. And with a frame this size you must be sure it is fully supported on a flat surface large enough to support the whole frame. As you remove these metal clips the frame becomes less stable and more prone to twisting as you remove them. Just be careful. Included are the pieces necessary for hanging. All in all I'm very pleased.

Ordered these for some prints I got online, while the frames cost more than the prints they are of good quality, have real glass, and are a nice minimal design that doesn't take away from what you put in them.One thing to note is they say "easy to hang". You're likely going to need a picture hanging kit. I had to string wire between the clips on opposite sides to hang them over a nail in the wall. So get a hanging kit if you don't have one already. One reviewer said their frame came with wire and instructions, mine came with neither. There is no matting, just a thin cardboard backing, if your item does not fill the whole frame you will want some matting or paper for backing.Ordered 5 and all 5 came bundled up in more than enough bubble-wrap protection. Two had slight scratches through the black metal on the sides exposing the silver underneath, but unless you go looking for it you won't see them. Certainly wasn't worth the expense of returning them. Glass was intact on all 5, but it is quite thin, be careful when handling or it is likely to break.Recommended these to two friends, I would buy them again.

The materials and construction seem cheap: the frame was a little rickety and the mat board was quite thin, like card rather than mat board. Don't let this disuade you, though. The frame looks great on the wall– doesn't look cheap at all once hung– and the black metal is much more attractive and tasteful than any similar black wood frame you can buy at ikea etc. I'm very happy with it and would buy again in a heartbeat

To get the back off the frame so you can put a picture in,you need pliers,the pegs that hold the back on are so stiff that there is no way they can be taken off by hand. There for I have not used this item and it will be going to the second hand store,and I will have to a store and purchase one that is usefull
