Stone actually does some of the same stuff he used to do as a detective. I'm not a hater of "the rich and powerful Stone" but it's nice to see him call back some of those intimidation tactics and such from his cop days.2. The story in this one is actually pretty good. A little more mystery than many of Woods' more recent Stone books. Of course, it's fairly obvious who the criminal is but finding the evidence to prove it feels like a callback to the "Stone was a cop" days.What I disliked1. Stone's ridiculous luck. A part of an armed robbery and didn't even take a gun-handle to the noggin.2. Also, Stone's women for this particular book really didn't try all too hard.Overall, not a bad book. You can tell by looking at the cover art where the next one is going. It doesn't mean that I will cancel my pre-order. I still very much enjoy Mr. Woods books and I look forward to each one (unlike James Patterson who I have given up on all together). Predictable as some say? Yes. Fast read? Yes, but aren't they all. Fun read? Yes!While I enjoy Stone, I would love to see some of the other series get another chapter. Like with Holly. Granted she is not in Orchid Beach anymore, but her adventures in her position with the government would be fun. Ed Eagle? Maybe not so much. Rick Barron? I loved the setting of old time Hollywood (one of my favorite authors was the late Stuart Kaminsky's Toby Peter's books).Keep up the good work, Mr. Woods. I have told him in the past that he has no idea how to write about sex and should either learn from one of the female masters or just leave it alone. I find it odd that he tries to make Stone Barrington look so classy when it comes to his lifestyle, but talks so crudely about making love. In fact, he never uses the term "making love" at all. He is constantly dropping the F bomb instead and seems to like his women lewd and crude.. It knocks him down a peg in my book.
