A Great Keyboard, Highly Recommended
I bought this keyboard a couple weeks ago after the up arrow key on my laptop broke in half and then completely fell off, and I love it! It's full-size, so it has the arrows, numeric keypad, and all the other keys I need. I like the extra shortcut keys, too.The keys have a nice feel and the keyboard is very light and portable. I like that it's solar powered and doesn't need batteries or recharging. I'm blind, so my room is usually not lit, but I guess there's been enough light to charge it because It's been working since I bought it, and I'm always on the computer and leave the keyboard on all the time.Getting started using it was so easy! I just plugged the wireless receiver into my laptop's USB port and it started working. There was no setup involved, which was nice since I was alone when I got it and didn't have a way to read the instructions.I love this keyboard and highly recommend it if you're looking for a good computer keyboard! It's enjoyable and easy to use.

Searching for a cool keyboard— mission accomplished!
I have been searching on-and-off for a fewmonths for a wireless keyboard to use with my Surface laptop, generally looking in the $30-40 price range. I stumbled on this keyboard and so glad I did! It literally recharges by light. Think about those solar powere calculators we used as kids...but bigger!!! I give a huge plus in my rating for not needing to recharge because it’s so unlike other devices that are wireless/Bluetooth that you have to stop and recharge. Also, when I took it out of the box, I was surprised it had a decent weight to it—not heavy but definitely not cheap feeling. I was afraid it was going to be like one of those old calculators you can get for $10, but was pleasantly surprised! It also has a slight incline to it which is comfortable for me. Best of all, the keys are sooo easy to type on. I originally was looking for a mechanical keyboard cause I like that typewriter sound, but then I decided I really NEED a keyboard that’s easy on my hands. Typing on this keyboard 8 hours a day— no pain in my hands! The only thing I wish, and this is silly on my part, is that the keys were backlit but they are easy enough to see as is. One last thing— the way they hide the wireless USB is great AND it’s labeled so you know if you have a keyboard and a mouse— you can differentiate easily!I’d highly recommend this keyboard!

sturdy keyboard
I am going to compare the Macally with the Logitech solar keyboard, which I bought at the same time, to make things easy. The Macally keyboard is heavier. It has a strip along the top edge to raise the keyboard, and there is a cutout in the strip to hide and store the receiver. The keys click nicely, but are not as tall or as loud as those classic cherry keys. The keys are also more rounded than the Logitech keys. My solar panels arrived scratched, but they still work fine. The light for the battery showed up fine. The keys are not backlit. I tested on both Macs and Windows machines. The command key also works as a Windows key.As an alternative, you might consider the Logitech solar keyboard. I have both the dark Windows keyboard and the white version for Mac. It lays flat, and is thinner and lighter. Unlike the Macally keyboard, there are two little hinges on the back to raise the keyboard, and they are flimsy. One always seems to close up, so I use the keyboard flat on the table. The keys sound similar, but they are sharper, more rectangular. They feel "soft" while in use. The Logitech receiver also works for universal Logitech mice, of which, only one of my Logitech mice worked automatically with the "universal" receiver. There is no way to store the receiver so it doesn't get lost. No light shows you the battery health, but Windows will offer to automatically download the solar app, and it worked well. Thus, if you don't mind how heavy it seems, the raised back and sturdy keys are a real bonus on the Macally keyboard. I like the battery light a lot, and the large solar array.

I had hopes for this one but I’m disappointed
What I like about this keyboard is that it’s able to be charged up in a fairly low light office. I also like that there is a lit caps lock button, which the logitech does not haveNow here is why I don’t like this: First it’s too low and it’s difficult to type with a wrist rest. I have to prop it up to be able to properly type and keep my hands ergonomically flat. And this is the most important defect, the keys have no cushion, they are very low profile end it actually hurts my fingertips. I also find that because they are so low, I make a lot of errors. I would have sent it back but the box got tossed. I’m using it, but I’m not happy and I wish I would’ve returned it. It’s really hard to buy a keyboard with out trying it out first, but there are only two PC keyboards that are solar, and I’ve already use the logitech and just didn’t like not having the key caps button lit. I had hopes for this one but I’m disappointed

good quality keyboard
I really like this keyboard, and I like that it neither requires any cables that need to be shoved around nor any batteries. I charged both keyboards for a few hours in the sun, and we have been using them for the past 2 days. At night we turn them off to save power, but so far they have been performing very well. They might be a little more expensive than other keyboards, but to me that is well worth it. If you register them on the vip.macally.com website, you get an additional year of warranty, covering this by the manufacturer for 24 months. In addition I purchased 4 more years of warranty through Amazon, which will kick in after the manufacturer warranty. 6 years of coverage is perfect. Who knows what's available on the market in 2026... The one and only feature I would have wished for is that it be a back-lit keyboard. But that is only for those early mornings when I start working in the dark. All in all I really like this keyboard, and so does my daughter.
