A quantum leap over my old ways of communication
This book and method of leadership was recommended to me when most of my relationships were going very poorly and I couldn't understand why. As a feeling/intuitive type personality, my relationships were at an all time painful low and I needed new life skills. A wise man referred me to this book. Putting the new skills into practice took some time and effort, but the reduction in conflict, pain and working together with with family, friends and co-workers has been nothing short of a quantum leap. Highly recommended if you need to level up your communication skills.

Not just another analysis of leadership: rather a deeply practical approach
Leader Effectiveness Training (L.E.T.)--The Foundation for Participative Management and Employee Involvement Leadership is the "in" topic with top business schools like Harvard and Stanford. It is basically what students get judged upon. In the masses of books on this subject however, no other book goes to the deep roots of the relational approach generating unimposed leadership (the essence of leadership is that it speaks by itself, when it has to be imposed it is called authority). This book offers a model for developping the skills generating instntly accepted leadership. It is a must read not only for every student aiming at an MBA but also for every active business man (already gifted or not). The beauty is that it is pleasant to read. It is not a boring student type of analysis. It is just lively, practical, based on solid common sense, but far reaching. An added quality is that the style grasps the reader emotionally, and most people read it from cover to cover (a rare feat with business books).

Tom Gordon Changed My Career
In 1972 I studied and achieved the authorization to teach all of Dr. Thomas Gordon's Effectiveness Training programs: Parent Effectiveness Training, Teacher Effectiveness Training, Assertiveness Training For Women and LEADER EFFECTIVENESS TRAINING. I was empowered to transfer my career that was counseling into training. As Tom mentioned in his P.E.T. book, counseling and therapy were not to effective in creating change, but education and training in the essential skills for functioning as an authentic person works. From that day until the present (December 2012, I continue to use Tom Gordon's model at the heart of all my seminars. The results have been success after success with all groups. I have had the opportunity to assist others to become more effective in their lives for 40+ years.

Excellent Life Skills
This is not just for -- or even mainly for -- leadership training. This book teaches simple communication skills that apply to any relationship in which conflict occurs. I bought seven copies for my work team. I only wish the author would provide a concise synopsis of his approach for those who don't have time/inclination to read the entire book. I had to do this myself.I have also read and put to good use the author's Parent Effectiveness Training. Why Dr Gordon's approach is not more widely known and put to use is beyond me. The world would be a much better place if more people understood and used these simple concepts.

Sounds too good to be true
I wish all bosses would read this book. Gordon has figured out an ethical way to solve problems that arise between people. No more "my way or the highway" or "union rules only". His techniques get bosses and employees working together, for the betterment of all parties. Sounds too good to be true, yet it works.

LET
This was actually purchased for a friend. Many years ago I attended this course along with co-workers and we found it very useful. We were fortunate to work for a company who believed in training. The book can be helpful just to asbsorb the reading outside of taking the actual course for anyone who wants to increase their communication skills.

Good book
I purchased this book for an undergraduate class last year. The book has good phychological viewpoints from various different points of view (Boss vs. employee) It points out various methods of approaching scenarios of conflict and guides the reader through the best methods of handling situations for each person (or point of view). Good little book.

I learned what I needed
This is a great book for learning what is needed to be a leader. It will help in any role: a supervisor, manager or CEO, a committee chairman or pastor, a choir director or symphony orchestra conductor - just to name a few.

Valuable for leaders and those who want to become a leader
Thomas Gordon is not only an impressive psychologist. He is also a talented writer. Becoming famous with his books on family psychology he entered also the field of business psychology. No scientific phrases, but lots of examples and case studies make this book very valuable for every leader or those who want to become one. Gordons belief: Effective communication is the key to good leadership. Active listening, clear task delegation, team building, and win-win oriented conflict management. These are the most important topics this book covers. For me it is one of the “bibles” of soft skill training. I recommend it to the participants of my leadership trainings.
