Just Eat It: How intuitive eating can help you get your shit together around food

Must read for tired dieters
If you are exhausted from trying to lose weight and want to be like you were before you ever knew what a calorie was, this book is for you. Straight talk from an author who nails the problem beautifully. Most of us who are stressed with our weight, are not kind and merciful with our personal mistakes. The author, Laura addresses this and it is like a balm for me on a wound. I am not overweight but my mind needed to be at peace with eating like I did years ago before the diet junk creeped in. I am encouraged by reading this book and am becoming more lighthearted about eating whatever without fear. No extra weight from doing this has come on. Even if it does, I am going to keep going and not quit and never diet again. Life is far too short and I would rather accomplish something amazing than waste time worrying about a needle on the scale going up or down. Hope this review helps someone who needs a rest from the burden of diets. Relax, go eat something you LOVE and be lighthearted without guilt.

yes, truly revolutionary
i bought this book but did not get to it for several months (surprisingly). It laid on the floor next to a couple of other books. I picked it up day before yesterday and can't put it down because I want to absorb its wisdom. It is direct in explaining why Intuitive Eating is really the only way to go. I have fought the concept for decades but Dr.. Thomas illustrates why I wasted years and subjected my body to travails I wish I had not. She writes with ample evidence and convinces the reader without putting the person down. I hope people pick this up, consider its message, and reread it as I intend to do. Thank you, Dr. Thomas, for a compelling argument for Intuitive Eating rather than yet another failed diet.

Enlightening and helpful!
Overall, I found this book to be very enlightening and packed full of useful information. As someone who has been dieting, in one way or another, for over 20 years, this book was extremely eye opening. While I went in with the idea that I knew a lot of this information already, I still learned so many things. As I begin my journey on breaking up with the diet industry and regaining my ability to eat intuitively, I found this book to be a great introduction and a way to build lifelong skills so I can truly say I will never diet again. The only negative thing about the book is that it can feel a bit repetitive at times as some of the information is reused in multiple sections but I also understand the need for some repetition, I just noticed it would cause me to lose focus when I felt like I had already read a particular section too many times. Otherwise this is a great, informative read and I think it is beneficial to every person who is interested in intuitive eating.

Warning: this author has a potty mouth.
I’ve just started this book and think it’s going to be an excellent resource. However, I am giving it 3 stars only because of the use of foul language. the text is peppered *liberally* with cursing which is unnecessary, and frankly, annoying. The swearing is distracting and takes away from the intelligence of the text.

Life changing
For the first time in many years, I can eat intuitively and guilt-free. I can say I eat better and more, and furthermore, I have not gained any pounds. This book helped me adjust my relationship with food and to accept my body.

Befreiend! 💜

Just buy it!
Oh, gods! If you got here you are probably a long time sufferer of food guilt and I-must-look-skinny paranoia. The book won't heal decades of damage done by diet culture; but it is a beautiful piece of art that gives you the tools and the knowledge to start combating those bulls#it voices that say: you should not it that. Spoiler alert: hell yeah you should!!!

Every body should read this book.
I have followed Laura Thomas via her podcast 'Don't Salt my Game' and on Instagram for a couple of years now. During that time, using her guidelines and from listening to the informative and inspiring guests she has interviewed I have made radical changes to my thinking and behaviour around and with food. Now this book is helping to really cement my actions. As much as the original Intuitive Eating book is brilliant, Laura's book has a little more of a modern approach, some updated information and is written in a language that we can all relate to. If you are upset by swearing be aware there is a little in here however don't let that put you off!The process of moving away from diet culture and of finally thinking about food and nutrition in a neutral way takes time. I'd been dieting for over 30 years (nearer 40) so it's not going to be an overnight process but I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. And I'm getting there! I thought I loved some foods more than life but it turned out that when I gave myself permission to eat them whenever I wanted, they lost their allure! And I am much more tuned into my hunger and fullness so am able to stop eating when full and eat when I'm hungry but before I get to the starving point! Just these small changes have made a huge difference to me however there's way more to IE than this (hint: the book covers it better). I feel I am now able to notice and call out the hidden messages around diet culture and can spot a load of #nutribollocks from a mile away! The whole process is fascinating and way more than #bopo (also fraught with mixed messages and hidden crap) and I urge you to read this book, listen to the podcast and ENJOY life more as a result. It's been life changing for me :-)
