Outstanding Price and Quality for What's Included. Fits my 29 Battery too!
This is an excellent product for the price point. If one were to buy all the components separately this product would cost nearly double the price. I paid $56 dollars for this product. The circuit breaker and power level gauge alone cost about that price. Throw in a rather sturdy case and two dc outlets with circuit breaker make this product an easy buy. Oh, and the outside post terminals are extremely convenient Pro's: 1.Battery can be charged from the outside post. Thus you never have to open the top of the case. 2. Power gauge/meter is a great feature. 3.The 2 DC outlets work great. Before I bought this power center I connected a DC outlet to my battery and it fried my charger. No issues with this thus far. 4. Case is rather sturdy and built of decent quality. Con's: 1. Battery gauge/meter only works accurately if the motor has been off for 60 seconds. This is written on the box itself. Not a big deal but it would be nice if you could test the battery while the motor is running. 2. As some have commented I wish the top snapped onto the bottom of the box. The strap is what is used to connect the bottom and top box together. It doesn't feel secure so I just grab the box by the bottom of the box. Not a big deal. Overall, this product is excellent. The con's are me just nit picking and for the price this is a no brainer. I did several hours of researching this type of product and buying the componets seperately. This is the best product that I could find that has everything you need and is the best overall value I could find. Hope that helps. Battery Info: For those individuals who where wondering about 27 batteries and bigger fitting into this product. This Minn Kota Power Center fits my EverStart 29DC Marine Battery from Wal-Mart. However, it is a tight fit and this case would not hold anything much bigger. Many have commented that this only fits 27 batteries or smaller but this is not true. Wal-Mart lists the dimensions of my 29DC battery at 13 inches x 6.75 X 10 (L x W x H). I am not recommending getting a 29 size battery and Minn Kota only rates this to fit 27 or smaller sized batteries but this product is excellent considering the price point. Closing the top on the 29DC battery takes a little caress but this is not an issue since you never really have to take off the top cover since you can charge the battery from the outside posts.

Love this thing! Nice idea - separate circuit for accessories.
This thing is really cool. I just bought a new marine/RV deep cycle Interstate SRM27 battery that fits nicely inside the Power Center container. Hooked up my trolling motor to the main terminals, and my lights and depth finder to the 2 accessory plug jacks. Works great! I like how it has a separate circuit breaker for the 10 amp accessory circuit, and the 60 amp main circuit. I'm using 1 or 2 amp inline fuses with the accessory plugs so I should never trip the 10 amp acc circuit, but I do like how they're separated. I also really like the built- in battery power gauge. You don't get an exact DC voltage reading, but it does give you a high level feel for where your battery is at power-wise. 4 light readings, red-yellow-green lights for recharge, 1/2 power, and full power readings. No more guessing at how much juice you have left. The plastic box feels pretty sturdy and you'll need the included strap to securely tie down the top when it's in your boat. Not sure how much I'll be using the handle on top when moving the battery around. You can use it as long as the strap's on tight, but I like using the handles on the lower part of the box where the battery sits. Feels more secure to me when lifting my 50 lb battery. So far I've only been using it in my garage while I've been tweaking my boat's electrical system. Can't wait to check it out on the water in the Spring when my boat will be ready.

Really nice. Versatile.
I bought this for my open-bow Lund Alaskan S-18 to power the bow-mounted trolling motor. There are similar products in various locations online but none of them is designed for the 27-31 battery size. . .even though they say they are. So, be careful ordering similar products online. That said, battery sizes 27-31 will definitely fit this box. In fact, the 27 needs a little padding on three sides to keep it from moving around (half-inch Styrofoam or similar). The box is pre-wired with #6 leads with terminals to accommodate threaded battery posts with wing nuts. The female 12v receptacles that you see on either end are wired behind a panel on the lid which is offset so as not to interfere with your battery terminal connectivity, (a downfall of similar online products). The real beauty of this pre-wired box are the circuit breakers: no need to fiddle with in-line fuses between your trolling motor and the battery - it's all taken care in those breakers. Literally, all you gotta' do is insert your battery, connect the terminals, close and latch the lid and connect your trolling motor wires to the external terminals. Another pleasant surprise was the strap buckle. I was thinking it'd be one of those goofy buckles that almost nobody knows how to thread or tighten and always ends up slipping - those things remain a mystery to me. This one has a male/female adjustable clasp like a law enforcement duty belt. It does not slip: take it apart by squeezing the sides of the male end, adjust it and plug it back into the female end.. The one complaint I might have about this box is the quality and thickness of the plastic. It does feel week when you're carrying a 50# battery around in it. And I don't doubt that the plastic would fatigue if left in the sun for a few years. On the other hand, no one that I know looks forward to carrying 50# batteries and when they do it's a two-hand affair: the side grips/handles on this work great. Anyway, this thing will likely spend most of its life in the boat being moved short distances. This is the best deep cycle battery box I've seen. Highly recommended.

Good product, handy to have, worth buying, could be improved.
I purchased this MinnKota Trolling Motor Power Center for use with my MinnKota trolling motor and my canoe. I received this product last week and I immediately set out to purchase the largest marine battery that would fit. I was pleased to find that although the product literature states it is made for series 24 and 27 marine batteries, the series 29 battery fit with about 1/2 inch of space all around. Before I got to use this product with my canoe, I experienced a two day power outage. The power center came in handy during the power outage and I was able to use it in conjunction with an inverter to keep my family's cell phones charged and to power our computers and wireless router. This made the two days pass easier. Some things to keep in mind: (1) Don't attempt to lift the power center by the top handle with a battery installed. My series 29 battery weighs 60 pounds and the strap and top handle simply won't handle this weight. You will lose your foot when the battery falls on it. Use two hands to hold the power center by the two side handles on each end. (2) When lifting by the side handles, a pair of gloves will prevent the sharp edges of the plastic from digging into your hands and causing injury. (3) This box would be better if it was made out of heavier, tougher plastic and better yet if made out of aluminum. (4) Use a ratchet strap in place of the provided cinch strap. The ratchet strap won't work loose, but even so, still don't lift the battery box by the top handle with a battery installed. See point (1). (5) It is nice to be able to charge the battery without removing the lid of the power center. (6) Built-in circuit breakers for trolling motor and accessories make this a good value although it is still pricey. (7) The power center is designed to prevent accidental shock by providing insulated wingnuts on the battery terminals. This is a good design and it could save your life. If used as intended, this power center makes a very handy trolling motor battery box for a small boat. It is also now part of my emergency preparedness equipment kit since it functions nicely as an emergency power center during a power outage. I will update this review if I experience any product defects after further use. If you're on the fence and wondering if this power center is worth the money, I think it is. Go ahead and buy it as I am getting my money's worth.

This is a battery HOLDER NOT a BATTERY!
I ordered this Power center thinking it was a battery. It was to power a Minn Kota Electric Motor but it just a plastic box that HOLDS a battery. It is still good because it tells you how much battery power you have left and it has power outlets. But for $50.00 I think it is a little bit over priced. However it is good quality and it makes it easier to transport and keep your battery safe and I would recommend it. But you still need to buy a marine battery which is about $100.00 just to keep in mind. If your buying a inflatable boat you need: A small motor Around $100.00 A motor mount Around $25.00 A Marine battery Around $100.00 And this power center Around $50.00 Plus the cost of your boat Around $200.00 So For around $475.00 you have a good size inflatable boat that has a motor. But if you think about it is still a good price compare to a solid boat. The best prices are here on amazon.com

great box.
I really like how this is set up. It has (2) auxiliary cigarette lighter type outlets to run things from your iPhone or iPod, GPS, fish finder, or whatever you desire and can plug into a cigarette lighter plug. Not to mention that it is protected by a breaker and you do not have to worry about things possibly getting damaged. The top of it is set up great with the battery power meter which displays the current state of charge left on the battery, and the breakers (a 60A for the trolling motor, and a 10A for the accessories) to reset. The posts where the trolling motor hooks up are very sturdy and are quite easy to use. The battery box as a whole is very sturdy and well put together. I have a size 24 deep cycle marine battery and there is ample space inside to put a size 27 battery. It also comes with brackets to secure the battery box strap to the boat. I use this in my 9 foot john boat and it does quite well. My only gripe for this is that it does not come with foam spacers for the size 24 batteries. I do not need a heavier 27 in my john boat and the size 24 does the job with the trolling motor since it is a 115A/h. Other than that, it is a great box that has the cool things and will do what you need and then some while protecting your boat and trolling motor.

Easy and simple for a newbie.
First I want to specifically mention that I am new to using trolling motors, rafts, fishing, and anything else that goes with such activities. I'm a middle aged divorved woman who always left these things up to my ex husband to handle (my fault I should have taken more interest in such things) So my review is from the viewpoint of a total newbie who knew nothing of boating. With that being said, this power center is PERFECT for me!! Very easy to use and understand. I bought this along with my Minn Kota Endura C2 trolling motor and deep cycle battery for use on my intex excusion 5 man raft. Things I learned on my first day out: If you put the lead wires on wrong your motor runs backwards (my mistake - the box is very clear as to what is negative and positive- I caught that really fast and fixed it in a snap as the wingnuts make it very easy to disconnect and reconnect the wires. If I had to do that on the battery itself it would have been a pain. Regarding Carryinng and the Handle. Do not use the top handle once you install the battery, it's heavy use the two SIDE handles (on bottom half of the box) as they were designed to do this. The top handle is for carrying when it's empty or to lift off the top. On my first trip out we were caught in a heavy downpour and this box worked wonderfully to keep the battery bone dry. Out on the water, I noticed that checking the battery charge indicator was a little difficult to read in the sun. Also because I'm a noob I didn't realize that checking the battery while the motor was running wasn't accurate... my battery is smaller so I was concernened. I can't really say if it's accurate or not as I have nothing to compare too nor do I fully understand all that yet (I'm learning) Finally, when o got home charging was a breeze being able to hook up the charging cables to the box. Overall. For a beginner like myself who had no idea how useful this box would be I have to say i was very thankful I bought it. I haven't used the accessory ports and I'm still not sure about the breakers but I'm sure when or if the are needed I will be greatful to have them. After one day I'm a huge Minn Kota fan. I'll be sure to update my review later once I'm a bit more seasoned :).
