Product Description Ross Kemp journeys across three continents to the world's worst piracy hotspots in search of the men responsible for bringing a reign of terror to the high seas. The world's waters are vital to global trade. Ninety percent of the world's trade is moved by sea, more than 10 million cargo containers are moving across the world's oceans at any one time, yet it is the least policed environment on the planet. It is in this vacuum that today's pirates flourish, seizing vessels to order, holding hostages for massive ransom fees and using extreme violence. Today's pirates are armed to the teeth with knives, heavy machine guns, rocket propelled grenades and sophisticated radio systems, meaning that pirates are the key players in a multi-million dollar business increasingly seen as one of the biggest, yet least publicised, threats to global security! Over the three fascinating episodes Ross joins the crew of the Royal Navy HMS Northumberland and meets Somali pirates, showing what the worlds mariners face each and every day as well as explaining the causes of, and dispelling the myths surrounding one of modern day’s greatest political and criminal problems. .co.uk Review You can hardly accuse Ross Kemp of settling for the quiet life. Ross Kemp In Search Of Pirates finds the ex-EastEnders star travelling across the high seas to hunt out the real-life pirates, following his excellent and well-received series that has seen him in Afghanistan, and confronting Gangs, previously. And it’s no quieter an assignment he’s given himself this time. Ross Kemp In Search Of Pirates sees the man himself climbing aboard the HMS Northumberland, and his follows the crew of the ship as they traverse vast oceans in search of one of the deadliest human threats on the planet. It’s the natural follow-on from Ross Kemp On Gangs, with his adventures moved onto water. As you’d expect, Ross Kemp In Search Of Pirates doesn’t shirk confrontation, and across the three episodes of the series, that are all gathered together here, Kemp encounters Somali pirates, digging into the stories that led them to where they are. Given the two dimensional coverage that the issue generally gets, it’s interesting to see someone actually making an effort to explore things in more depth. And it makes for compelling television. Kemp once more is an excellent guide, and better than you might give him credit for if you’ve not seen one of his shows before. The only problem of note is that it takes some time to realise the programme’s title, but it’s still an interesting journey to take, and leaves you wondering and receptive to Mr Kemp’s next adventure. --Jon Foster

Greatly impressed by the three parts on this subject showing us all sides of the situation.
How hard it must be for relatives of crews of the navy ships and the merchant ships to watch their loved ones facing risks on the orders of their governments to hold back except for the tiny windows of time they could hopefully have to respond. Shame the target ships can't be armed themselves and fire at any approaching craft.Ugh ! and the poor people living in the houses and boats surrounded by floating sewage and rubbish in water that can carry no fishlife. What happens to the money made by the pirates after they sell the cargoes and other monies ? Who gets the financial advantage of it ? Who are the men at the top of the chain ? Obviously not the population ashore and I expect only a small percentage goes to the pirates actually risking their lives and freedom for someone higher up.Perhaps the merchant ships should be closely convoyed from far out at sea sailing in convoy accompanied by several smaller gunships who would sail close to the ships and fire at their chief officer's will at any closely approaching craft. Having a few larger navy ships hoping to be in the right place at the right time is obviously not working.

RN & Pirates
A good documentary piece about the modern day Royal Navy dealing with an age old problem of piracy. Other countrys in the films seem to have bigger issues to cope with and it was good to see the whole story and not just focus on the pirates.

Interesting, Informative And Entertaining!
Another example of fine presenting by Ross Kemp. Interesting, informative and entertaining. I have watched other televised documentaries from Ross Kemp and his team and they never seem to let the audience down and they certainly cover much ground for the shows. I look forward to seeing other works from Ross Kemp in the future. AC

1.3 billion pound warship of waste
The Royal Navy at its worst imaginable. As a seafarer I could not believe a modern navy could be so useless. I sent a copy to my MP. It would have far better for the vessel to have sailed to Gibralta and filled the pubs up there.
