This knife is a beast! Yes it's heavier than a standard knife, but that's part of the use. Makes for easy chopping. The thickness of this blade is what separates it from others. So many say that the heavier blades wears you out for use. Listen, survival is not for the weak. The heavier blade makes chopping easier. Let the weight do the work. A cord around the wrist and low grip on the handle make this knife an easy to swing blade that feels like a light weight axe. Move your hand in, and the balance is perfect for close in shaving or wood work. The balance masks the weight. You can baton this thing with a hammer if you wanted. Fear of your knife breaking on you when you need it most is non existent with this. I've stabbed this in trees before to use as a step to elevate my area view. I'm 250 lbs. Easily fits in scout carry position. Solid sheath with perfect snug fit. No fears of this falling out. Case has holes and groves for various paracord wraps for customization for additional carry or ranger band wraps for firestater, quick kits fear, etc. There are mixed reviews for this knife, but true use for survival knifes is based on your preference for what you feel is important. I did a lot of research before paying this much for a knife, but I a 100% happy I did. I'm a former marine, plenty of field time, and love heading out and teaching my kids about survial. This knife covers everything. Only thing it's not great for is going through heavy brush. But you need a machete style blade for that type of environment anyway. Teeth on the spine are for notching, not sawing. The can saw, but you can chop clean and fast. Saw a lot of bad YouTube reviews in mY research before purchase, but after further research I found that they either didn't have the REAL knife or truly did not know how to use it. Again, survival knifes are based on your belief of priorities , but I've yet to see this knife fall short on any. And I only have to carry one knife.

Being on the fence with this one for more than a decade, I finally got the nerve a while back and pulled the trigger. To say this model is controversial is both ridiculous (it’s a knife, after all) and an understatement. Yeah, a lot of people HATE the Tracker, but just as many LOVE the Tracker. That’s what finally made me put up some cash and learn the ways.Obviously, this ain’t your run-of-the-mill stop point or Bowie. On the surface, this is more of a do-it-all, multitool that may not excel at any particular task (depending on the user, of course) but will perform virtually any task within reason and perform it very well (again, depending on the user). As stated in (many)other reviews, it requires patience and a willingness to learn. An open mind is a must.That last paragraph is a paraphrased collection of tidbits I heard or read over the years that only added to the mysticism of the Tracker and why I wanted to try it out, but never quite committed. Intimidating, maybe, but intriguing. There had to be something to it. How, despite the mad hatred, could a knife endure and be so iconic?Once I did commit and get one in hand, that was it. I understood both the love from the dedicated users and the hate that came with the frustration of expecting this to perform like a standard cutting instrument. Patience is key, but understanding it is simple. There is no mysticism. Different sections are designed for different tasks. It will chop, shear, cut, whittle, and go through anything you want to put it through, but you will learn how to control it. You might even find yourself enjoying it.In the last couple months of my Tracker journey, I’ve chopped limbs, busted kindling, split four-inch logs down to toothpicks, and have learned to use the quarter-round to make feathersticks. I’ve used it for more conventional tasks like tearing down cardboard and opening packages. I’ve even used it in the kitchen as a cleaver. It does it all. I’ve learned a lot and I’m still learning. I ended up getting a Tracker 4 for edc, but that’s another review.Final thoughts: if, like me, anyone has any hesitation, don’t be intimidated. Get one in hand and put in some time. If you have the willingness and patience, you will be rewarded.

If I was going off world to colonize a planet or naked and afraid this is the blade I would take.While looking like a blade a klingon would carry it has a multitude of uses.Its a beast Comes with a nice kydex sheath.

Love the overall weight and usefulness of the Tracker. Weighs in at a hefty 2 pounds. Not super heavy, but you know it there! Only issue I hit upon wasn't the sellers fault. More the USPS. It was a couple of days later on delivery. As I said, that was the USPS issue and not the seller.

Always wanted one of these, this is the original tracker knife that started the tracker knife craze. Tom Brown Jr. world renowned primitive tracker, passed away recently. About 20 years ago he created this Knife for the film The Hunted starring Tommy Lee Jones which was loosely based off of true events in the life of Brown. In his honor I finally bought the knife. Great design and steel.
