Q: what is the recommended maximum distance between two brackets? what is the maximum distance from the end of the bracket and front edge of the shelf?

I believe the distances between the brackets and from the edge all depend on the shelf material you choose. 3/4" plywood will be much stiffer (and can tolerate greater distances) than say 3/4" particle board.

Q: Do you have to hold the release button the enter time your lowering the shelf?

Once you press the release button the catch will release, you do not need to hold it the entire time. However, if the brackets are holding a shelf you may have to support the shelf slightly on its way down so it does not bang violently waking up any napping kids.

Q: What is the Maximun length of Board allowed?

I’m not sure the manufacturer suggests a max length. I cut my shelf off at 18” because I was afraid of to much hanging off the end unsupported. I’d say if you don’t get to much weight in front of the bracket end that you’d be ok with a longer length but I’d consider the weight heavily. Hope this helps.

Q: Does it lock in the up and down position?

It only locks in the up position, but it is stiff enough to stay down and dose not ratel.. very good for counter extension.
