It works wonderfully.
As other reviews say, the edges are surprisingly sharp but I think the only danger is when opening it if it is opened too fast and your hand slides along an edge. Birds will be fine. The lid is held on by a tongue and groove idea. It is quite intentional to need to squeeze the bottom so that the top can slide on.If I need two, I will buy another one.

Excellent quail feeder
These were prefect for my small quail flock. Food does not get wasted. They are a lot sturdier than the plastic ones. A little more money but worth it. Easy open and close. Easy to clean up too.

Smaller size good for 6 birds / grit and oyster shell
Put one 1 or 2 in your coop so that your girls can peck at this before bedtime.

dangerously sharp
This feeder says rolled edges for safety. im not sure what that means. its crazy sharp, you could cut a tree down with this thing. I sliced my finger open sliding it open to fill it up. After a couple of days using it, i noticed my quail with some serious injuries to their feet. Turns out they hop up on top of it to eat and their feet slip inside of the holes, when they jump out, it slices their feet. Half of my quail have very nasty cuts on their feet. Two were down to the bone, and one actually amputated a toe. I would strongly advise a different product. We are lucky we did not lose any to infection.

GOOD & BAD NEWS!!
Straightforward honest.GOOD: Sturdy. Very hard and Long Lasting Material. Metal is Galvanized and so it won't rust easily. If it fall down, won't break, but might bend. Step on it might bend. Separate eating. Many Holes for up to 20 Chicks at once.BAD: 1) If you're using it for chicks, they will stand on top, and poop in the feed. Either give you more work. I had to scoop out daily. Then I just gave up. Also, if they have watery poop, you will have WORK to wash every day. 2) The way of sliding, is not the best. To much more work compared to other ways. Need to slide, sometimes it even bends, and one needs to straighten it back. 3) The way one has to slide it open every time to add feed unless one uses a Funnel. 4) takes less feed than other feeders and the LENGHT. I rather the "Tower" feeders. 1 GAL+Tips: I did try to put some Steel nails Hot Glued to the top. However, didn't last long. The chicken broke it. If you can stick Nails or so with the point upwards, and with a spacing between nails of 1", the chicks won't be able to stand on it and your feed will remain clean even on the top of the slider. Wanna escape all of these? Get a "Tower" Feeder. But a good one. I have also a 1 GAL Tower feeder, from Amazon, the White and Red plate one for hanging. However, it has a little bolt down to keep the red plate in place, and that came out several times automatically and now I've lost it for good. Si is neither good (the one I bought).WHO AM I?: I'm a 6+ generation Honest straightforward farmer since 4 years old. I'm going to start reviewing farm and Agri products and seeds etc on my Youtube, Facebook, and Tiktok Social media @Microfarmingsxm.

Chick friendly but they will climb it
This saves feed as it helps prevent the chicks from dragging it onto the floor.Chicks will jump onto the crest of this feeder and poop onto the food. As the chicks grow, it becomes easier for them to topple the feeder onto its side, so I placed a heavy rock inside to prevent this.I had to wash it several times but I still like it as a feeder.
