Hypertherm 027668 Plasma Circle Cutting Guide Deluxe Kit with Magnetic Base

Super nice when cutting the tops from 55 gallon steel drums with a plasma cutter.

I've only used it once so far but it's well made and worked as it should. Is a little overkill for what I do. I also purchased a less expensive one and it's just as handy however it doesn't have as many attachments as this or made as well.

it does a good job (with attention on the torch angels) of keep it in position to cut a circle, but the price for what you get is too much. I was in a hurry and lazy so I paid the fare

I used this to cut a circle in sheet metal while cutting out a sign. I only used it about 5-10 mins so far, so I don't have a lot of experience with it, but it works very well and is what I expected. The price is more than I think its worth but it does seem to be high quality.

Good product. Just $100 overpriced.

Great circle cutter, i use it with my my Hypertherm powermax 65 plasma cutter, very smooth cuts with no resistance or burrs left on the metal.

Two problems with this: 1) It's almost impossible to use the magnetic base for a full circle. The four little neodymium magnets on it are not nearly enough to hold it while you're making your circle, and related to this 2) The head doesn't have a bearing, just cast aluminum grinding against a cast aluminum channel. (Actually not even that, it's riding on one to three set screws.) It binds terribly. As you could guess, if it binds and you try to fight it, the magnetic base slips, or at the very least the intermittent pauses make you cut look awful. It tried greasing the head but it still binds. I rehearsed the cut for about a half hour before I gave up. There is demo of the mag base on YouTube, but is was a simple curved cut of maybe 60 degrees, not a full circle. I challenge the manufacturer to make a uncut YouTube video of someone doing a full 8" circle with the mag base. (And no super-gluing the base to the metal.)Update: One fix to the mag base issue is to replace it with one of those super strong neodymium magnets. One can be found in the same ID, OD and thickness as the original mag base. (Be extremely careful with large neodymium magnets. It is very easy to get pinched.Keep the magnet wrapped in a thick rag when not using it.) Another tip is to turn the circle with one hand on the torch and the other on the end of the radius bar. You simultaneously drag on the torch, and push on the radius bar end (and vice-versa). This really reduces binding and makes for a smoother cut.
