Guess it should be called a staple slider
This is the best style staple puller, but I see from other reviews that there are some people that don’t think it works great because they do not know how to use it. Not their fault, after all it is called a puller, and they have probably used other kinds that are designed to pull. Used to work in an office that had this type and pulled well over my share of stapes back in the day . Slide it under the staple and just keep sliding until the staple comes up and out, let the staple slide up past the bend on the tool; it is supposed to, and it will store multiple staples there so you can keep on removing several staples in succession while the tool holds them. Just keep on sliding and don’t pull on the staple after it comes loose. If you have a lot of staples to pull, it is also efficient because you can remove staple after staple, as they just keep sliding up the tool and you only need to stop and get them off when there are too many that they start jamming up the function. Usually you can just remove the stack of staples by sliding them off with your thumb. Do not pull unless the staple is stuck in the paper (usually on a large stack where the staple is not fully through and folded on the back) and then you should pull on only one side of the staple at a time; pull one side out of the papers by rotating your wrist to the opposite side and pull in the opposite direction, while holding the staple down on the other side with your thumb. That is easier than it sounds and is natural to do. Use this simply designed basic tool right and you will wonder why any other design even exists.

Just keep pushing - don't lift.
Anyone who gives this less than 5 stars is using it wrong. Slide the tip under the staple, keep the remover flat against the paper, and push. Keep pushing. The staple will ride up the sides of the tool and NOT tear the paper. It is the best staple remover I have ever used, and I'm over 70, and have used many different styles.

Best Staple Remover Ever and this is how it works . . . .
I use these staple removers at home and at the office. If you need to remove those large copper carton staples then you need the Swingline Heavy Duty Staple Remover which I also own and does an awesome job! The Bostitch staple remover operates by sliding the tip under the center of the staple and then continuing to glide it forward through the staple. The raised sides then force the staple up straightening the ends so that it does not destroy the paper. The long part of the tool is for holding onto - not for pushing down on to pry with. It has a simple and extremely efficient design with no plastic parts to crack or fall off. It works great with most normal office paper unless it is tissue-style paper which is easy to tear during this procedure. While the metal is relatively thin, it is by no means flimsy for the purpose it was designed. It even normally holds onto the staples after removal so that I can remove 3,4,5,6 staples before having to dump them in the trash. This is by far the best staple remover I have ever owned and have never broken one.

The World's Best Staple Remover
I have purchased many of these over the years and given them to other people as well. I detest those pincher type staple removers as they are difficult to maneuver and end up tearing the paper. Keep it simple. It works perfectly to remove even thick staples from PAPER easily. This also is a helpful tool to pry open cardboard box flaps that have too much glue. It even can be used as a screwdriver when a screwdriver is no where to be found. Buy 3, keep one in your desk, one in the junk drawer and one in your tool box. NOTE : Someone gave this only one star because they were using it to remove staples from wood but I think this is designed for paper or cardboard. Another person gave it one star because they were using it on the bottom side of the staples and prying the two curled pieces of metal, then pulling the staple out manually. INSTRUCTION: With paper laying on a table with the flat side of the staple facing up, then slid the narrow end of the staple remover through the staple which loosens the back side of the staple and pulls it out as you keep pushing. It's really easy, just hard to explain with words.

Works well
This is my favorite type of staple puller. Simple, nothing to break and works well. Also it’s inexpensive.

Best staple remover out there
Such a simple device, and ridiculously expensive here on Amazon. But it's the first staple remover I've used that doesn't shred the paper. It's almost effortless to remove even very tight staples from documents.
