I don’t have a chef’s classic to compare to.

Q: Is this 12 inch pan scratch resistant?

It has been scratch-resistant for us. We RARELY use any metal utensils on this pan, and I don't know if it would stand up to constant abuse, but it has done a great job of keeping anything from sticking, so there's been no reason to really test the inside surface for scratch resistance. We use ours about 3 times a week, and it has held up for months and still looks like new.

Q: Is the bottom smooth? I have a glass top stove.

Yes, I use it on a glass top stove all the time. No issues.
